WOW. So just PPG. Thats how you tell a player's impact. No wonder you say so many dumb things.

scoring is literally 50% of basketball

we all know he was great defensively. so were allot of other guys who were equally great offensively

thats the difference

Anyone have San Antonio's winning percentage in games where Duncan played?

duncan has never once needed to carry an offense on his back

the dude never once averaged over 25ppg

shaq did it 10 times
kareem did it 10 times
wilt did it 8 times
hakeem did it 4 times

these are the real goat big men

russell ( like duncan ) got to coast on offense and just focus on defense too... wonder why

because both were spoiled with all around great teams every single year

^^^^^ ppg isn't the end all be all, kenneth. being legit on defense, rebounding, & running an offense (passing) is just as important.

and while i feel he's overrated, duncan fit the bill AT LEAST under 2 of those categories.

i just got done saying its 50% of basketball.. scoring is LITERALLY half the game.. ( unless youre a ball dominant PG spoon feeding people on the regular )

i also just got done saying that theres guys who were also legendary defenders like duncan... WHILE ALSO BEING LEGENDARY SCORERS

yes its not the end all be all.. but its an enormous part of the "be all"

which is why guys like shaq/hakeem should never be ranked below duncan

team accomplishments are tie breakers between comparable players

guys like wilt, shaq and hakeem were on completely different levels offensively while also being great defenders themselves

kennethgriffin

theres an nba draft

wilt
shaq
hakeem
duncan

all on the board... who do you draft 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

i go

wilt #1
shaq#2
hakeem#3
duncan #4

i cant rely on drafting duncan and also getting a legendary coach with a stacked roster every year for 18 years in order to get 5 titles

shaq had that for maybe 6 years and won 4 titles for god sake

good point. how do you think duncan's longevity effects his career? can he be placed into the top 5 with another title playing at the level he is currently?

agree here - definitely

i dont understand how any of duncans rings from now on are lifting him all time

1999 - asterisk ( lockout )
2003 - legit title
2005 - ginobili true finals mvp ( 20ppg on 60%, assist leader )
2007 - parker mvp
2014 - kawhi mvp ( parker 2nd leader )

any other title will be at best another 3rd best player title

how much credit do we give guys like glen rice in 2000? or lomar odom in 2009? or horace grant in 1993? or sean elliot in 1999?

i mean come on...

duncans titles ended in 2007...

2007 - parker mvp How can you say this? if u say Ginobili was "true" mvp? Duncan dominated the entire playoffs this year
2014 - kawhi mvp ( parker 2nd leader ) You are just trolling now if you think parker was 2nd leader here

Equating a legend to Rice, Odom, Grant and Elliot? I don't even know why I'm replying to this troll post. I don't care if you hate duncan, there's no way he could possibly drop lower than 15 on your GOAT list. The players you listed aren't top 100....maybe even 200.

@ OP - this whole forum knows your vendetta against tim duncan. Listing his finals competition to show he didn't have to beat any good teams...ya I'm sure no agenda there. Why don't you list Shaq's Lakers finals teams too?

Edit: Kenneth...I'm curious how you rank dudes like Barry, Baylor, McAdoo, and BK since scoring is so important?

If 05 and 07 didn't count for Duncan than none of 00-02 counted for Kobe.

instead of me trying to prove why scoring is important. people should be trying to prove to me why scoring is NOT important

like i said. unless youre a point guard. theres no excuse for free loading on offense

and duncans 2014 ring WAS infact* a role player ring

3rd option 15ppg on a team built on offense ( NOT DEFENSE )
