Didn't expect much this season especially after all the trades but after the team stabilized they've played really well.

25-16 over the last 41 which is within the top 10 over a span that is half the Season. Looking forward to see how they build on that for next season

Had no idea they were doing this good. By the looks of their roster they should be a lottery team.

East is weak too.

Utah Jazz post Kanter trade would make the playoffs if they were in the East.

Our offense sucks but we've been legit defensively. Smart, Bradley and Crowder have caused havoc for opposing perimeter players.

No, the East just sucks outside of Cleveland, Atlanta, Chicago, Washinton, Toronto, and probably a healthy Milwaukee and Indiana. Horrible depth.

Well, there are only really 2 top tier teams in the East right now, Atlanta and Cleveland.

The rest are either tier 2 or lower. It really needs to get better fast.

Chicago, Toronto and Washington aren't great teams
Boston, Indiana, and Brooklyn all have comparable records in the 2nd half

Indiana and Brooklyn dealt with their injuries early on while Toronto, Chicago and Washington dealt with theirs in the 2nd half

What this have to do with the East being bad and not the amazing turnaround the Celtics have made???

50 win rate over 41 games isn't anything to scoff at and have been better in that run than Dallas, OKC and NOP ie the fringe West playoff teams

Congratulations to the franchise and their fans. Hopefully making the playoffs doesn't slow your future development.

We traded away Rajon Rondo and Jeff Green.

We got back Jae Crowder, Isaiah Thomas, Jonas Jerebko and Luigi Datome. By some miracle...we got markedly better.

Last thing in the world I'm worried about right now is where we draft or what the future holds. I want to see these kids get playoff minutes and then get back here next season. As far as the future goes, its in the right hands...that much is clear.

I wouldn't say this is a amazing turnaround. Celtics have favorable circumstances, like being in a weaker conference and the weakest division in the league (applies Toronto and Brooklyn too). Those other teams face a gauntlet of tougher competition.

Look at a team that plays similar to Boston out West in Utah (post trade). No doubt they would be where the Celtics are and Quin Snyder would be getting the same praise Stevens is getting.

Still, they did a good job down the stretch and getting into the playoffs. Hope they have a good run.

The Jazz and Celtics are very different:

The Celtics need a 9-man rotation of equally talented players to win.
The Jazz are a top-heavy team carried by a beastly Rudy Gobert.

I don't see many similarities other than a mid-season surge and a young team.

I think it's more with their passing and good coaching that are similar to Celtics.

Also, Favors and Hayward too. That front court is really good.

Jazz are 29th in assists per game and Celtics are 4th.

And yeah...Utah has a strong front-court and weak front-court. Boston is the complete opposite lol. What you smoking?

Celtics are carried somehow by Evan Turner and Isaiah Thomas.

Whoever draft the next big thing or get Another Davis or some shit in the off season gonna win first.

So I don't know who gonna win first because to know is some psychic shit

In the mean time, both teams got a LOT of work to do. But the Celtics already better with more cap space they gotta head start

The Celtics had a bottom 5-7 record for a large chunk of the season but to turn around and have a top 10 record for half the season is impressive. I don't disagree with the context of you are discussing in terms of them playing in the Atlantic Division and East in general but the Celtics really don't have much control over that and were just able to beat who were place in front of them more so than earlier in the season.

Why didn't they tank?

Addressing the tanking situation, the Celtics are fortunate that they can still get favorable draft positioning without tanking because of all the picks they own. Whether that is packing picks for a targeted player or getting lucky with their upcoming Nets picks.

What's the Lakers' path to the ring? There is no reason to believe they'll be contending in the immediate future. Most teams take years to get from the bottom of the league to the top.

Not sure how much that matters anymore. Got them nothing with max space last year. Players today aren't so concerned with playing for a particular team and those Cali taxes are a MFer. (Yes, I know tax is also high here in Boston)

Players care more about winning than money.

Look at how stacked the Cavs got all of a sudden once Lebron joined and Pau joining the Bulls.

Most certainly.

Hoping that the C's are able to land Kevin Love this summer. Problem is, with Love, you have to pair him with a defensive Center to hide his deficiencies . Maybe they could snag Tyson Chandler as well? Don't think they'd have the cap space to sign both of them though.

Wishful thinking, I know...

Celtics are fortunate that they can still get favorable draft positioning without tanking because of all the picks they own.

This is the best part of doing so well. We can do good and rely on the outcome of other teams records for hopefully better picks.

Agreed. They fought hard and showed their heart but they were always going to be brutally outmatched. Shame it's ending on a sour note with what happened on the court with Love and then Crowder but I'm proud of the team overall. Can we sign Stevens to a 10 year contract please :oldlol:
