Apparently this Connor McDavid is a game changer. The Leafs have a 9.5% chance of picking him (Buffalo has the best shot at 20%), if Gary Bettman could take one play from his mentor David Stern's playbook it would be to rig the lottery. After the NBA rigged the lottery for the Knicks, the league saw unmatched growth and entered the best era of its existence.

Toronto is the most valuable and most important franchise in the league and having them perpetually suck makes the league less intriguing.

Do it Bettman, DO IT. and I could care less about any team from Toronto...

First or second are fine. Both McDavid and Eichel are projected to be impact players.

McDavid to Sabres though does make sense since he played in a minor league team very close to Buffalo so Buffalo fans do know him very well.

The obvious rig would be the Yotes. Bettman is losing a ton of cash in Phoenix. This may be those once in a lifetime players that can actually fix an entire franchise and an entire league in the sunny parts of the US

Yeah, I'm not sure the league needs the Leafs to be good. They don't really resonate in the US; even growing up in Michigan we never cared what they were up to. I think Rangers-Wings-Blackhawks-Boston are more important to overall success of the league. Plus Penns and to a lesser extent the Flyers.
