Inspired by that Klay Thompson thread

Comparing PPD between Harden and Thompson will be my first assignment

Then comparing PPD of the modern era (2001-) and illegal defense era

get out of your moms basement and go out side, take in some fresh air, it might recover some of the brain cells that you have damaged from frequenting this board so often.

So obviously the lesser dribbles the more efficient the player is with his time with the ball. This will be a great stat to show how much better Klay is and how much time Harden wastes. Can't wait.

I've been looking for dribbling statistics for a while now, I know they have them because I remember a few years ago hearing about Tony Parker leading the league in dribbles. Google turns up nothing though, any help?

First of all, I have no idea why you just made a thread when I specifically forbade it. Instead of shutting this bitch down though, I'd like to address the above quote.

1) Have you not seen any highlights of 80s basketball? Showtime Lakers? Bird's Celtics? Ball and player movement at its finest. Post 2001 AKA the And 1 era produced the likes of Iverson, Stephon Marbury. You want to talk about over dribblers? :oldlol:

2) Moving without the ball is becoming a lost art along with mid range shooting (see: James, LeBron). Guys like Jordan, Reggie, Rip Hamilton were geniuses off the ball. Coming off screens, flashing in the post, cutting, etc. Klay is a very rare breed.

3) Check the $tats. Compare assist numbers across eras, especially when paces were comparable (ie, mid 90s to right now). Then come back here and tell me about passing in the 'isolation era'. :lol

By posting four threads due to Klay being a very good player in a fashion you don't like?

How am I 'insecure' exactly? I just laid down the facts for you. NBA basketball today is strictly Pick and roll, chucking 3, and driving to the basket, with the odd post up here and there from select teams. Few teams have guys who are proficient mid range shooters and there are no Rip Hamiltons, Jordans, or Reggie Millers (Ray Allen was the last of their ilk)- guys proficient in all facets of off ball play.

Virtually no one has this skillset today (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHcvntjSwog)

As for my other point...

2014-15
Pace: 93.9
APG: 22

1994-95
Pace: 92.9
APG: 23.4

What am I missing here? :confusedshrug:

Wasn't it to show klays efficiency in time with possession to score contributions?

I doubt we will be getting anything new with this PPD stat, but in fairness to Still Ballin, I can't agree either with Donda's APG stats from '94 and 2015 being an indicator of team play or efficiency.

APG MAY or MAY NOT be an indication of good team play or efficiency. It depends. If as a PG, I dribble up the court and make a spectacular pass to my 7footer inside the lane, it's a great assist, but 3 other players weren't involved in the play. This is why there have been several star players in today's era or past eras that have high assist numbers with reputations of being selfish.

I would much prefer to see several passes before a basket even if there is no assist(by it's definition) and then leading to a basket. The SA Spurs had great plays in last year's playoffs where passes leading to assist passes were plentiful and beautiful. Better and more efficient basketball today almost requires you to have more players involved in play, and less iso or 2 man basketball like in the past.
