this just in, getting points through the offense while being efficient is a good thing...

% of shots from assists

Davis -
71%

Thompson -
55% 2 points
91% 3 points

One is a guard, who handles the ball, one is a post player.

Your logic is horrible.

define "post player"

He only posts up 13.4% of the time.

No surprise since he plays with ball dominant guards.

Assists are recorded when the scorer shoots within a few dribbles of receiving the pass. A 4/5 like Davis isn't going to do a lot of dribbling, 7-footers that try and dribble through traffic get ripped. So of course Davis is going to score a high percentage of his baskets off of assists. If he's at home the home team score-keepers will have an even more liberal interpretation of what an assist is to make his various teammates lok better statistically. What's important isn't whether or not the buckets he scores are assisted, it's that he can score the basket when he's called upon to do so.

Stephen Curry is a superior dribbler, get where he wants. Of course when you have a superior dribbler and well, one of the best in the game at it then you will take less dribbles. So what?

why does it matter how someone gets their points lol

if you score 40 like klay did last night, score 40 mainly on ft's like harden, or score 40 on all pullups/fades like kobe it really really doesnt make a difference

:biggums:

40 points on only free throws puts the other team in foul trouble

Michael Jordan was assissted on 67% of his shots during the Championship years combined. So what does this tell you

I would hope that Anthony Davis isn't pulling up for 3s off the dribble.

MJ was an off-ball player, so no surprise - his ability to get easy buckets (via his JJ Redick catch-and-shoot game and Cedric Ceballos catch-and-slash game) took his offensive attack to the next level.

But he was ALSO the greatest 1-on-1 player the game has ever seen, with by far the fastest isolation pace (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=371913) of all time.

MJ's 1-on-1 ability coupled with his off-ball play made him the most UNPREDICTABLE, unstoppable player of all time.

Thoughts on Reggie Miller, older Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton? Basically guys that ran through screens and wore out their defenders doing so.

3ball covered it

Jordan could still destroy anybody at his position in an iso. Davis isn't there yet. Chandler Parsons gets more points per possession on post ups.
