Didn't see a thread

So after doing everything in their power to tank for the number one pick in this years coming draft the Knicks go out and win a game with one game to go and give it up to the T-Wolves

What were they thinking :lol

It's actually not even a bad thing. The last time the worst team in the league got the #1 pick was in 2004

In fact, you'd have to go back 10 years to the last time the team with the worst record got the number 1 pick. Then you'd have to back another 13 years for the other team with the worst record who got the number 1 pick. You could almost say getting the worst record is a bad idea, statistically.

OP do you know what "lottery" means?

They're literally locked into the worst record in the East. Wins and losses make no difference for them now

I was pissed too, but then I realized maybe they wanna draft a guy like Russell. You can't justify picking him over the 2 big men, when everyone already has the mock draft as them 2 going 1 and 2. If they want to sign Monroe (which I'm not sure about since he is a shitty defender) you can't pair him with Okafor because it will be swiss cheese D.

Maybe they are not as high on Towns as I thought they would be, as I am high on him. But people have Russell being a can't miss. I wish the Knicks could trade the #1 to the Sixers for their 2 lottery picks. I would be all over it as long as they could pick 2 high draft picks and get Russell and Winslow. But that is a long winded dream :lol

I'm ok with them not having the worst record. But then again, the worst case scenario for the worst record is the 4th pick so that's a lot safer. I don't want Knicks having only 1 draft pick and being #5.

:confusedshrug: The draft isn't a conference thing, worse team in the league gets the most ping pong balls in the lottery

76ers could tie.. who has the tie breaker?

Blatanly wrong. Knicks are going to have the 1st Eastern Conference draft pick. They don't care about the Western Conference.

I'm glad they are out of position.

probably because for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to add the Hawks @ -2500 to my parlays.

pretty disgraceful to have a league that rewards tanking. something has to change

the nfl rewards tanking even more than the nba does. the worst record in the league is guaranteed the #1 overall pick.

I like having the draft lottery, makes it more interesting. I like seeing upsets like when Chicago won the lottery for Rose.

Still you have a higher % of getting that pick if you finish with the worst record. The lottery balls don't know anything about when the last time the worst team got the pick was. But yeah not as big a deal as OP made out but it's silly saying it isn't a bad thing.

They need to even it out.. give the bottom 5 teams the same chance of getting #1 and 6-15 better odds than they have now

That would decrease the full on tanking we see now, there would be less incentive...

now fans put up with it because their team might get the number one spot and to get that you have to really suck but take those odds away and fans will not appreciate a crappy season all so you can get the 10th pick in the draft
