Basically said Williams didn't want to be a leader, the media got to him in Brooklyn vs. Utah. Joe Johnson is too quiet to be a leader and that Pierce and Garnett were the ones doing all the pushing as far as the leader role. Also he says that if him and Garnett weren't on that team, they would've totally folded and not make the playoffs. I happen to agree.

Also he said this about Otto Porter Jr. that made me laugh...

"Otto is another one who just doesn't understand how good he is,'' Pierce said. "He can shoot, he's a slasher, he can defend, I'm just not sure how badly he wants it every day.

"That kid just needs to get mad. If he came to practice ticked off and to the games ticked off, he'd be fine. But it's hard to get Otto mad. I should punch him one day just to get him riled up.''

pretty much. Deron and Joe Johnson are typical betas. Teams need alphas to compete at this level.

Damn, he went in. But he didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Deron Williams is not meant for the big city especially as a leader. He does not have "IT"

Well, maybe not anymore, but last year with a starting lineup of Deron, Joe Johnson, Pierce, KG and Brook Lopez, lots of people thought the Nets would give Miami a run for their money and the pressure was on...

Not sure what everyone is going crazy about. Nothing here that really surprised me. Everything he said was really never not known. Everything he said was the reason the nets traded for them. They brought passion and they lead but they were terribly inefficient and just over the hill. They would miss a combined 15-20 shots together (KG&PP) combined most games.

Rondo had said it before, apparently Ray used to say things in press conferences/interviews about being a leader/helping young players but he never actually did those things. Same goes for all his ads and charity stuff where he goes on and on about his family and then he goes and tweets another girls about going down on her:facepalm

Hard to think this is wrong....

yea I read that like woh.

I def am starting to doubt Deron, even tho he's my boy. He was good for awhile, but it's come from too many people that have no reason to lie. Of course, Deron might have just cracked after he got slayed in the Utah thing (for no reason IMO.)

I don't really understand how people can get emo and become worse players, tho, but maybe it's injuries. You'd think bball would be where you can get your emotions out. If you gotta fight a dude or whatever, do it.

Nets, a team that is going to maket he playoffs only if the Pacers choke, has let it be know loudly and often that Pierce was let go, he's old and sucking, they don't need him. Go see Netsdaily, their beat reporters, how many times that came up. I think he heard it one too many times and just said **** them.

I don't think anyone sees it like you did. I'd say the majority of Nets fans agree with him 100%.

Not a matter of the context being right or wrong. If he

Injuries definitely played a big role. He only played one full season for the Nets and wasn't awful, (18/7).

I think he was always helped a lot by Sloan's system though, plus he didn't have a lot of responsibility as a leader on those Jazz teams. Those were veteran-heavy teams with a strong coach.

He came into a ****ed up situation in Brooklyn and just wasn't the guy to take the reigns and lead that team like they wanted him to.

So a bad combo of injuries, a bad FO/locker room situation, a mismatched bunch of players, and it results in D-Wil falling off a cliff. I don't think he's even a top 15 PG anymore.
