I was trying to explain my brother about Jerry West cause apparently he said that he'd take Allen Iverson over Jerry West
.

I dont understand how someone could say that. Please explain. I was online and saw Comparison threads comparing the two.

If you ask me..Jerry West blows A.I out of the water

Iverson was more dominant at his peak, but West had a more consistent career and much more success in the playoffs.

West was a better shooter, passer and defender. Iverson the better ballhandler (under much "LOOSER" rules though) and slasher. West was bigger, AI was more athletic. Jerry worked in the post better, Allen finished better. Both were tough as nails and very clutch, West being at the very top in terms of clutchness. I'd take Jerry as a scorer too, AI being more of a volume one.
Overall, West had a better peak and career, AI being also great ofc.

false.
West was named FMVP 1969 playing hurt averaging 39 PPG. He managed 42/13/12 in the finals game 7. Iverson was never as dominant.

Jerry west is better on offense and defense. More efficient scorer and a better passer. I can't see a pro-iverson argument here, his specialty is volume scoring and West scores just as much but on higher efficency. Its easily west.

You're making it sound like its close and it isn't. Theres a good 25 spots or so between them on all time lists.

No, I didn't... I've clearly stated West had a better peak and is easily higher all-time. Not all that far though. When you consider the amount of pro players throughout the years, it is close but yea I get what you're saying.

Yep I agree! They say West was more around 6'4 instead of 6'2. So when u factor that in, AI is giving 4 inches. When u compare AI to greats his size, he's right at the top peak wise with Isiah and Tiny.

But when u compare him to great all around perimeter guys in that 6'4 and up range, it can be an uphill battle. Those guys are more versatile and usually better defenders. AI has offensive skills on par with anybody (scoring ability, handles, passing). It's the size that hurts him at times. GOAT wise among SG's, West is in that 3-4 area while AI is around 6-7. That isn't a huge gap.
