View Full Version : Russell Westbrook is the most dominant player in the NBA

Westbrook has the highest peak of any player this season. No one at their best is more dominant this year. It's been really impressive. Crazy how Durant's teammate and former teammate lead the league in scoring :lol

I'll consider him truly dominant once he is held to the same standards as LeBron or Kobe and lives up to it.

28/7/9 in 34 minutes.

Insanely dominant. That production has never been done in so few minutes.

The dude has 13 triple doubles this year. And they are MASSIVE triple doubles.
Seriously, his best 10 games this year are unmatched by anyone elses best 10 games.

All you guys can do is talk about playoffs (Durant missed 2/3s of the season, ibaka the last 1/3, and Westbrook himself missed games. This is the 8th seed IN THE WEST. His team record is easily good enough in the east.

The only minor valid criticism is his shooting efficiency, but it's minor compared to the actaul effect he has on the court.

I want ONE poster to give me a real reason why he isn't the most dominant player this year. A reason longer than one sentence?

About to WILL his team in the playoffs by putting up almost ANOTHER 50 POINT TRIPLE DOUBLE.

Failed to make the playoffs when he was the man at OKC.

One sentence is all that's necessary.

That would matter if his team was .500 without him. Turns out they were like 10 games under .500 at the start of the season while he was hurt and that was the reason they didn't make the playoffs.

No one can make the playoffs as a one man team in the West. You are retarded. The best criticism you can give for an individual player is team record? Weak.

Durant missed 55 games and Ibaka missed the last 1/3 of the season.

Once again you can only try to criticize the team record, the TEAM record, when trying to criticize Westbrook. This is getting old.

Westbrook put up 31/8/8 over the stretch.

Next please.

Heat lose by the largest margin in NBA FINALS history with bosh wade, allen and lebron. Don't matter though. He scored 27ppg while "shooting" 60%. Stats>>>>everything.

Now:

Westbrook plays like a man possessed with ibaka, durant out. Gives his team a chance to be in the playoffs and doesn't get in due to Pelicans/spurs game. Now he's a underachiever and stats don't matter.

This. Russ himself missed 15 (really 16) games this season because of Kendrick F***ing Perkins and Andre F***ing Roberson (two useless players) getting in the damn way. It was a freak/fluke injury. I mean, yeah, if Russ had played 75+ games this season and OKC still came up one game short of making the playoffs, then flame away. But if Russ had gotten to play, let's say, another 10 games this season, even without Durant and Ibaka, I'm pretty sure OKC is winning at least 3-5 of those games and are resting everyone tonight because they've already got a playoff spot on lock.

That, and he played in a ridiculously deep conference this season. If OKC was in the East, they'd be going to the playoffs as a 6-seed.

Didnt durant posting up godlike numbers without westbrook and made his team so far above the rest until westbrook came back and almost became the 3rd seed. And durants numbers became worse with him. If thats not a definition of a cancer then I dont know what it is. All I know is he plays the same as Iverson and we all knew how iverson was regarded as a cancer in this league.

With ibaka &/or durant throughout the season chances are westbrook doesnt have the same statline.

He had the chance to put up freakish numbers and he certainly took it, but he just is not a good enough player to lead his team to the playoffs. Like I said earlier we would be ripping LeBron, Kobe or KD if they failed to lead their team to the playoffs. Why does russ get a pass?

Shows how weak today's player is.

Can anyone say Westbrook is a better scorer than MJ, Bird, King, Dominique?

No way.. If those guys were playing today, Westbrook would be #5 in scoring, maybe lower.

Also, their FG% and ORtg would be literally 10 percentage points better and 15 points better, respectively (at least Bird and Jordan's would be)

When you account for turnovers, MJ had the same or better per-100 possession stats FIVE times in his career, but he shot a full 10-12 percentage points better in FG% each time.

Also, Westbrook is on an entirely lower level of athletic domination - he only got 48 dunks this season!!!!.. :biggums:

The most athletic #1 option wings in history all got 150 dunks per season (http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352399) in their prime - this would be Dr. J, MJ, Dominique, Drexler, Lebron and Durant - these are the most-dunking wings in NBA history - Westbrook's level of physical dominance as a small guard is a few dimensions below these guys.
