Even if he is going to be good (and he is miles from that now) he should be playing 2. He isn't a distributor. And Rubio is among the best distributors. I'd be far more excited about Rubio leading the break with Wiggins and Zach filling the lanes.

too many good PGs, gonna be like running backs of the NBA soon, good ones will be disposable.

Rubio's garbage and so is his contract. Nobody will trade for him.

Rubio and whoever they draft for Westbrook. Who says no? Or is that gonna 'stunt' Lavine and Wiggins' growth?

I don't think Lavine knows his position yet. He doesn't play PG or SG very well. He can't shoot the three well, can't handle ball well and is a below average defender. Rubio is a starter, Lavine is 3rd option at PG on most teams but he needs time to develop.

This.
I think Lavine at the 2 (He definitely needs to get stronger over the summer), and Wiggins at the 3 could be pretty deadly in a few years, or at the very least, entertaining to watch.
The only problem I have with that is, what do you do with an emerging Shabazz Muhammad? Where does he fit in all of this? Off the bench?

Don't care much for Rubio, but it would be wise to make a fair assesment of their team next year with all of the guys playing.
Of corse LaVine and Wiggins are gonna look subpar out there they playing alongside scrubs as rookies. Even with that, both have shown flashes of brilliance.
People forget Zach's 37 against the MVP already? :confusedshrug: it was like a week ago ffs.

They could cut Rubio and Lavine, and be no worse off.

Yes, off the bench. Those two have shown more potential than he has for sure. He had a way better year this year but Lavine and Wiggins are going to be much better. There's no shame in being a stud sixth man.

Rubio's contract actually isn't that bad considering what he brings in terms of playmaking and defense. He still knows how to set guys up. If you feel it'd be tough to build a team with his subpar shooting and maybe shaky health, then it's not a bad idea to try to listen to offers.
Also, Lavine is a SG. He eventually may develop the ballhandling and passing skills to play PG at times but I don't think that's his main future position. I think Rubio, Zach, Wiggins make an intriguing starting perimeter unit, with Shabazz coming off the bench.
Maybe they can swindle the Lakers or Knicks into some package for Rubio, while offloading some vet contracts in the process, if they really want to move him. T-Wolves have had some really bad injury luck the past 2 seasons with some of their pricier vets.

No one wants that contract for a guy who's so injury prone, and isn't a top 15PG even when 100% healthy.
Can't shoot for sh*t, gambles for steals way too much, acts like a crybaby all the time.
I'd give him a 5mil/1yr+1yr team option and play him 12MPG as my backup PG, but that's it.

Mo Williams had a 52 point game earlier this year, too. Where is he now?

This makes sense for both teams.
PHX:
Rubio
Knight
Tucker
Morris
Len
PHX staff keeps Rubio healthy.
MIN:
Bledsoe
LaVine
Wiggins
????
Dieng
And Minny would be hella fun to watch.

Dropped 51 and 52 this year didn't he?
Edit: Never mind, was Brewer not Mo

And that's putting it lightly. He's one of the shittiest defenders in the league.
That said, Rubio is a mediocre player himself.

It would be nice to think that the Wolves are the only team in the NBA that actually think Rubio is a good player...........then again.........

Rubio is better than anyone in Euroleague and it's not even remotely close.

I do respect your opinions as a poster here, so I will back off on my Lavine criticism. If you truly think he has the potential to be at least a good player in the league, I will accept that.
My biggest issue was with these handful of Lavine-worshipers claiming that he was some kind of super-star before the season even started. I based my opinions on what I witnessed in his year at UCLA, in which he was, quite simply, not very good.
No doubt he is a great athlete, but IMHO, his skill-set is very raw. He may prove me wrong, too. It wouldn't be the first time.

Zach Lavine is the furthest thing from a point guard as you can get.

Do you realize that people improve? What he did at UCLA is irrelevant at this point in time. He is extremely better than he was at UCLA already.

curious to hear your thoughts, as well as other legit Twolves fans, on Rubio. I was always a fan, already buying into that kool-aid when he was drafted.
Sure, hes been riddled with injuries for a few seasons, but when healthy, how do you view him?

He is a triangle pg.
Towns and Tim hard away jr for pick 4, Lavine, and bjelica

He is enormously talented in ONE facet of the game (passing). He's a good defender as well. But he hasn't improved his weaknesses much since entering the league. This guy's offensive pressure is so low that it makes his ability to pass even more impressive. But all in all he's just ok.

Starting to sour a little bit. Becoming injury prone but still is tremendous at running a team. Makes everyone around him better and it shows in the win/loss column. Can't score for shit and is a lost cause in that area. Surprisingly an ok 3 point shooter when he is wide open. With better teammates his value will rise a lot aas he will make them better.
With crappy players there is only so much he can do. Next year our offense should be fine but our defense will still be horrid.
We have one good defender in Wiggins and then an ok one in Rubio (he is a great team defender though). No one really knows how to play team defense on this team

No he isn't. Lavine's decision making with the ball is downright horrible. He has no business ever being a PG.

Can Rubio shoot yet?
Yes, he can but he goes back to old ways of shooting at times. He just has to continue to train with our shooting coach and he'll get better. I think it has to do with fatigue because Jim Peterson has said he's shot great in practice, better than anyone. He'll go on a run of shooting great, then have a slump, then go back to shooting great, then slump. He's definitely better than he was last year. Finishing at the rim is the biggest problem he has! He's probably the worst finisher in the league around the basket (which hurts his FG% horribly making people think he's a horrible shooter.)

Ricky Rubio has had 4 years to prove himself, and every year he comes with the exact same stats and no change to his style of play.

They gave this ***** 55m for shooting in the mid 30's all 4 years of his NBA career? :wtf: Not even mentioning the fact that he is injury prone, healthy he isn't worth 55m. Probably would be a good bench player though, something like a Jordan Farmar.
