Even without making the playoffs, he'll still have a better playoffs than Harden.
Congrats Harden.

Just passing along an interesting tidbit for today.
In Westbrook's case it's not for lack of trying.. He was a beast this season, night in and out that guy came to play

More like taking over the team.

There's is truth to this.
That was always a knock on Kobe. And while Westbrook could put up 50 shooting 45%, its the fact that his teammates are not involved in the process. Yes, he averaged a bunch of assists. He was a do it all player. Arguably the best in the league statistically, but you have to get your teammates involved.
The worst thing in the world as a teammate of a chucker is not knowing when youll get the ball again, and not playing on defense.
Guys get it in their head, Westbrook is doing it all, and slowly that mindset creeps onto the defensive end.
Basketball is a team game. Always has been, always will be. You win as a team.
I commend Westbrook on his outstanding season, but if it doesnt translate to success, he needs to try something different.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Doesn't translate into success?
The Thunder went 3-12 (20% winning percentage would be the worst in basketball ) with the worst offense in the league (99.9 ORTG) without him.
They went 40-26 (61% win percentage would be the equivalent of 51 wins) with a top 5 offense (110.5 ORTG) in the league with him, and that's with a ridiculous amount of injuries and a bunch of role-players surrounding him.
And then you bring up Bryant, the guy with 5 rings and 7 Finals appearances.
Your entire post is narrative-driven nonsense with absolutely nothing to back it up. :oldlol:

They had the same record as the 8th seed in the West, that is New Orleans. Would have been the 6th seed in the East, all of this without the best player in the world, and the 3rd best player on their team. Dude almost carried a much worse supporting cast than Harden to the 8th seed in the West, WHILE starting the season 3-12. :hammerhead:
If they made the 8th seed, we wouldn't even be having this discussion right now.
GOATbrook gon GOAT.

Success is making the playoffs.
Clearly, his play didn't translate to a successful season.
Would you consider this season a success for OKC?

Obviously, because the statement in the OP would be false.

Are you being serious?
It's already been pointed out to you, but the only reason OKC didn't make the playoffs is because OKC started 3-12 and Westbrook missed all but one of those games. Never mind that Durant missed 55 games this year and Ibaka missed 18; OKC's record with just Westbrook in 66 games translates to comfortably making the playoffs if he plays all 82 or even just 75 games. You're ignoring all context and all the extenuating circumstances that led to OKC missing the playoffs (and there are a lot) and just looking at the surface and ignorantly sticking to your stance because it's "factual."
You said he doesn't get teammates involved, yet he finished top 5 in the league while averaging 8+ APG to go along with 28+ PPG.

Did Harden have a successful season in 2013? His team only won 45 games just like WB did. And that's without missing a chunk of games

No. Not really.

As a first year starter? Yes.

Ok.
So Westbrook balls out and drops 32, 8, and 8 over the last 11 games of the season, and OKC goes 4-7 in that span, essentially melting down over the last three weeks.
What extenuating circumstances were there? And.... go.

No Durant and Ibaka for all 11 games and, for a bit of that time, no Collison. OKC's schedule was fairly difficult during that time, too. Without Durant, Ibaka, and Collison, they're missing 3 of their 4 best defensive players. OKC lost games not because Westbrook's offense wasn't good enough, they lost games because, as a team without Durant, Ibaka, Collison, and Roberson down the stretch, their defense was comically terrible. And yes, Westbrook deserves some of the blame for their porous defense, but he was far from the biggest culprit.
And no, Westbrook isn't blame free for OKC missing the playoffs, but your agenda in this thread is pretty obvious because you've chosen to ignore almost all of the contextual evidence and facts presented to you.
