A playoff appearance on NBA TV Wednesday night while the beat up Grizz and Blazers will be on TNT at the same time.

And they're the only series who's game 4 isn't even scheduled yet. These guys should be getting the spotlight on national TV.

SMH NBA.

Hummm no. It's all about ratings, if people don't want to watch them, they have no reason to be the spotlight.

they will likely lose to the surging nets.

60 win 2nd best record in the league should be on national TV. Hell during the season they were on TV twice.

Not even a Hawks fans but they've earned exposure.

Good one.

Their prize for winning the east was a bye to the Eastern Finals. The Jazz would walk through NJN and Tor/Wash.

TV channels want the best ratings possible. Despite having the 2nd best record, Hawks don't bring good ratings which is the reason why are not on the national TV.

They're not on TV enough to even know if they're a ratings draw or not.

The Blazers Grizz game should be a better game. Makes sense to me.

They get to swap first round picks with the Nets this summer in a draft that's considered to have good depth, that's their prize. Also, they're playing the Nets. Do Brooklyn fans even enjoy watching that team anymore, with Lionel Hollins' baffling rotations? I can see why Blazers/Grizz got the national TV game in this scenario.

ATL just needs to make quick work of this first round and enjoy the spotlight in 2nd round.

Haven't seen that in a bit :applause:

What's more appealing to a casual audience, a Hawks/Nets game or a Blazers/Grizzlies game?

The Hawks would get NBA TV games even if they went 82-0

Might have more to do with the shitty 8th seed in the East than the Hawks

ATL wants more prime time exposure? Win. It's simple. Now if they make it to the ECF and are still on NBA TV then there is some serious shit going on behind the scenes

They already won. 60 games. They're good enough to have 4 all stars but not good enough to be on TNT.

Not sweating it, should be a garbage series anyway.

We'll get our spotlight later on.

They have very little fans, but I agree they had a great season. They won't have that many playoff games so they should get a couple of them on ESPN/TNT

It is pretty funny how the Hawks are basically a perennial staple of NBATV playoff games.

Theyre like the one organization that always makes the playoffs, but never attracts any viewers.

Lol hawks

I'm pretty sure their prize is homecourt advantage and going against a team with a worse record.

Warriors prize, ABC, ESPN and 2 games on TNT.

I think it's a fair point. Hawks are the #1 seed and are a more exciting team than Memphis or Portland IMO. It's pretty disrespectful to put them on NBA TV.

Are the Hawks fully healthy right now?

You're right Kizzle. They are deserving of a large breadth of exposure. And the fact that they haven't been given a fair shake to observe what the ratings would be is also a notable point.

I guess the NBA is just basing their decision on conjecture. They're assuming that they'll render better ratings with the other matchup and to an extent I can sorta understand why. In the end, it's just the bottom line that matters and it seems as though they feel the other game is the safer bet to attract ratings...

Well we haven't exactly been a 1 seed before. Last year we were the 8 seed playing the Pacers and there was probably a very similar thread about them.

The Hawks play arguably the most aesthetic brand of basketball in the league. Don't know why people enjoy that ugly, boring as hell iso-ball.
