Whatever the standard pay is the WNBA gives to color commentators.

The Heat will probably give him a max deal and then use his constant injured state as an excuse for why they keep missing the playoffs. Should give them a good 5 year run of excuses and reasons not to get rid of Spo. Heat fans would be ecstatic.

Realisticly not too much.

Max. 2nd greatest SG ever and still a few more good years in him.

didnt he sign a 4 year 60 million deal?

if he has...then i expect him to retire at the end of that.

He'll pick up his 16 million dollar player option for 2015-16...then he'll probably sign a 2 or 3 year deal for around 6-8mil a year, then retire in 2018 or 19 if the Heat don't make any noise. He's a a Miami Heat for life.

Kobe's on 20+ mil deals and he plays about 20 games a season

Wade should get 20+ mil too

I disagree.

Kobe is extremely popular in jersey and merchandise sales. Way more so than Wade.

Wade, while still relatively healthy compared to Kobe is still only #9 in jersey sales. Kobe, barely playing this season was #4. Keep in mind that Kobe has been playing much longer in the NBA and there are way more Kobe jerseys in circulation.

The Heat didn't even sell out when Lebron was still with the Heat, so I would argue their star players are worth less to them when it comes to money.

Wade getting ~$12-16m/yr seems very reasonable to me.

$10-12 million. But we as an organisation are probably a bit too loyal, so we could overpay.

Even if he's "just" #9, that's still a shit ton of money. It's actually surprising that he's still at #9, considering that Miami isn't really a sports town.

If he can continue to play 60-65 games per season with the same production, probably ~$15M. There are MUCH worse players out there making a lot more than Wade.

they did actually.
if wade played for the lakers, he would be just as popular as kobe. 2006-2011 wade would have been the most popular player in the league if he played for the lakers.

Wade isn't someone who lacks self awareness, or is delusional about his current ability as a player. He's also taken less money now multiple times, so he's not going to all of sudden try to squeeze someone. He will get his market value, nothing more.

I doubt his knees allow for another long contract. Maybe just transition into the front office or some kind of goodwill ambassador PR role.

Okay bear with me on this.

I don't think Wade would be just as popular as Kobe is if he were a Laker, but I do agree that peak for peak, they are right there next to each other.

Reason why? Kobe's whole persona as the heir apparent to MJ and his aesthetically pleasing game.

Kobe is ****ing polarizing, and that's a great thing to get you noticed and popular. Wade doesn't have the same appeal and never has. Wade's game also doesn't really translate into people mimicking his playstyle, Kobe's does. You never hear people on the court shout out "WADE!" while slashing through defenders. You hear them call out "KOBE!" as they attempt a turnaround fadeaway.

We already know that Lebron was insanely popular despite playing in Cleveland and Miami. Wade at his peak was right there with Lebron, but he never got the same attention Lebron and Kobe did. The market you play in makes a difference, but not as much of a difference as you might think.

Heat will treat him the same way LA treats Kobe - they'll pay him the maximum or near maximum as long as t hey can dribble a ball.

Lebron will give him $20/4 years

The Heat will pretend that they offered Wade the max and Wade will pretend that he took a huge paycut. So basically $10m/year
