Several league sources close to Brooks have doubts about his job security.

If a change comes, University of Florida coach Billy Donovan could emerge as a serious candidate to coach Oklahoma City, league sources said. Presti has a longstanding friendship with Donovan, a two-time national championship coach who has been open about his interest in moving to the NBA.

Connecticut coach Kevin Ollie would be a candidate for the Thunder's coaching job if it opens, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Ollie was a teammate with Durant and Russell Westbrook in Oklahoma City and he's an individual whom Presti holds in high esteem.

A year too late, but better late than never I guess :confusedshrug:

They need to do whatever they can to keep KD and Westbrook.

They need to do whatever they can to keep KD and Westbrook.

which is why they should have fired Brooks last year.

Would have gave the new coach one year to install his system before this upcoming year which could be KD's last in OKC.

Crazy how OKC has fallen the past few years. Went from having Westbrook/Harden/Durant all young with 100% health to now. No Harden, Westbrook has had 3 knee surgeries, Durant has had 3 foot surgeries, Brooks is still there for some reason.

Brooks is still there because KD and WB like him, now the FO has to come in with some daddy's tough love and do whatever is necessary for them despite their superstars.

Agreed. Firing Brooks would be best if KD and WB are staying, but you can't fire him if it sends them away.

This is gonna be complicated now. Westbrook and Durant have both snapped at the media partly in defense of Brooks. Letting him go now may rub them the wrong way. It may have rubbed them the wrong way last year too, but it would have done so while saving them some face, because they hadn't been so publicly supportive of him. And it would've given the team an extra year for them to learn to like the new guy, whoever they choose.

It is what it is. That offense is among the most stagnant in the league. There's very little creativity. They're great schematically on defense. But they've needed a new perspective for a long time now.

This could wind up going down as one of the biggest wasted windows ever. Up there with that Shaq Penny Orlando team that seemed set for a dynastic run and just watched everything blow up by being unable to keep their guys and injuries. And that's coming from a guy who is willing to defend the Harden trade to a degree.

As much as I like KD and Russell, I'd be disappointed if they reacted drastically to a Brooks firing.

Thunder are playing a dangerous game. Brooks should have already been gone, do they really want to risk a down year because the new coach needs time to install a new system?

I was listening to some ESPN radio host last night and he convinced me that OKC has to pull the trigger and get rid of him right now. You can't coddle to your superstars, if that was the case than the Warriors would have held onto Mark Jackson as Curry loved him. And now look where they are, led by a coach that has a brain and a system. The players are there, they have 2 bonafide top 5 players, they can't waste these guys' possibly last year together running the same game plan. Coaching makes a difference, look at the Hawks too. I'm not saying give a college coach a try, but someone that is linked to a successful system (Pop diciple?)

It shouldn't be too hard to install a system when you've got Westbrook and Durant on the team. It doesn't need to really be humming until mid-April of 2016 anyway.

Sticking with Brooks seems far riskier than bringing in a new coach, and they can get anybody they want.

Not comparing Durant/WB to Shaq/Kobe because the former obviously isn't the same class of duo, but Shaq/Kobe did win with a new coach off the bat; someone who implemented an entirely different system.

Along with Shaq/Kobe? Magic/Kareem. With the talent OKC has, a risk of a "down year" is worth it IMO. They're still young and willing to learn.

The Lakers also didn't have a player of Ibaka's talent or a player as capable of putting up the numbers Kanter can.

OKC is gonna be incredible with a capable coach.

****ing lol at this pathetic franchise. They will be at the bottom of the league for decades after Durant goes to DC and Westbook goes to NY.

They had Durant, Westbrook, Harden and Ibaka on the same team :lol

Should have traded Westbrook and Perkins for Dragic, Gortat and picks.

Dragic
Harden
Durant
Ibaka
Gortat

****ing cheap idiots :lol might as well move that useless bitch back to Seattle
