Don't let anyone here tell you it's bad. It's 50 that potentially could turn into money that could change your life.

It's not even that much of a longshot either. It's a real possibility.

I have a multi going with Bulls/Cavs/Grizz first round winners for a 1000 to win another 1000.

So far so good...Plus i have championship win bets on bulls and golden state, golden state i got at 23/1 at the start of the year. Bulls odds have gotten worse though LOL

yeah definitely not a bad bet, chances are okay, but it 95% won't happen imo... very unlikely with the Rockets.

If your estimate is that it's 5% likely to happen, then it's the best bet of the century.

His bet is only 0,14% of his potential winning.

I agree that it's more likely than 0,14% and that OP made a nice bet, though

I was surprised when I saw how long the odds were for that particular matchup and since I can actually SEE it happening I decided to go for it.

Next question, will I have to pay taxes on my winnings? :(

Crazy odds.....50 to win 35k. when was the bet place?

5dimes

edit: I just checked their website and the odds have changed drastically since I made my bet.

Hawks v. Rockets NBA Finals was at +70000 when I bet and now it's at +5050

enayes

I'm a little concerned now with how drastically the odds have changed.

When I placed my bet (4/18) at +70000 a $100 bet would win you $70K
and now with the matchup at +5050 you would win $5050 with a $100 bet.

I hope they can't take my bet away if there was an error or something in the system.

enayes
04-20-2015, 07:33 PM
So my wager was cancelled. The line was supposed to be +7000 not +70,000. If there is an obvious error in a line they can cancel all wagers.

I was initially upset about the cancelled bet but at least it happened now as opposed to after I had "won" my bet.

The line for Hawks v. Rockets in NBA Finals is at +5050 now, so I asked if I could at least get credit for the +7000 line so my $50 bet would win $3500.

Here's a copy of my chat on 5Dimes (it's pretty funny I felt like I was talking to a real bookie):

Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Karla'
Karla: Welcome to our online Customer Service! How may I assist you today?

Karla: Let me check your account, just a moment please.
Karla: Thank you for waiting, we are still working on your request.
Karla: That wager was deleted , since it was a bad line.
Karla: It was +7000
Karla: That was an error.
me: So even thought I bet at +70000 you can just delete it?
Karla: Correct!
me: Since the line was supposed to be at +7000 when I placed my bet can I still make my $50 bet that price?
Karla: This was an error.
Karla: Whenever this happens wagers are cancel.
me: I would like a $50 wager placed at the +7000 line for Hawks v. Rockets
me: this is what the line was supposed to be on 4/18 when I placed my bet
me: I was the one who brought the error to your site's attention about an hour ago
me: the least you can do is give me credit for the actual line price when I placed my bet
Karla: Just a moment please
Karla: Let me transfer you to the manager.
me: ok

Please wait while I transfer the chat to 'Percy'.

You are now chatting with 'Percy'
Percy: Greetings!
Percy: I am the manager on duty
me: Hi
Percy: How may I assist you ?
me: are you able to read the chat I had with Karla just now?
me: it explains everything
Percy: I am aware of the situation
Percy: Let me tell you something
me: ?
Percy: Taking advantage from a bad line can get your account suspended. You took a line +70 000, I am sure that you noticed that something was wrong with that . As all the other lines were below 10k . Our website rules says " Immediately upon discovery, wagers placed on an event with an obvious erroneous line resulting from human error will be graded no action or voided." . You agreed to this rules as soon as you signed up to our Sportsbook .
me: When I checked the odds today I saw that the Hawks v. Rockets was at +5050 so I knew something was wrong with my bet on 4/18.
me: I was the one that brought the error to your site's attention.
Percy: So you are aware of the rules now
me: And all the lines are not below 10K there are lines over 40K, such as the Mavs. BUlls
me: I am not trying to get credit for the +70,000 line, but I feel it is fair to give me credit for a +7000 line
Percy: Sir you were told that your bet was going to be voided since your first chat .
Percy: This is not going to be done
Percy: all wagers were deleted
Percy: you can place the bet now with the line that is available right now
me: I'm just asking that my $50 bet be honored at the +7000 "correct line"
me: how is that not fair?
Percy: That line doesn't exist . You can bet on the line that is up now.
me: I would like to talk to Tony. Please transfer me over.
Percy: He is not available
me: When will he be? I will have to continue to open new chats and wait.
Percy: Just a moment please
me: Thanks

Please wait while I transfer the chat to 'Becky'.
You are now chatting with 'Becky'
Becky: Greetings
Becky: this is the Operations Manager
Becky: so reading your chat with Percy
me: I am waiting to speak to Tony.
Becky: he is not in, I am the 2nd on board
Becky: & reading your chat
Becky: you might be better off speaking to me
Becky: as your chat gives the impression that you believe we have to thank you for betting a bad line
me: When I placed the bet I did not know it was bad. You can see from my account history that I am not a very active gambler. When I checked the odds today I saw that the line was much lower so I brought my bet to the attention of your staff
me: As expected the bet was canceled. I was not trying to get away with anything as I came to you guys.
Becky: well, but I am not about to thank you for betting a bad line
me: I've been told that the line was supposed to be at +7000. All I am asking is that my bet be honored for the correct line when I placed my bet.
Becky: sooner or later my staff would've spotted the extra zero
Becky: this is your one time exception on this
Becky: next time, you get your bet honored at the price you find it online
Becky: as I am not going to buy the "i didnt know" story a second from you
Becky: repeated bets on bad lines will also put you closer to the door
Becky: so refrain from taking a line that looks like a hell of a deal
me: I understand. I couldn't help but make the bet. The Hawks and Rockets have not done well in the playoffs so I thought they were just big underdogs.
me: So my bet will be honored at the +7000 mark?
Becky: correct
Becky: one time exception
Becky: next time, you get the price listed online
me: I appreciate you honoring the +7000 line from 4/18/15.
Becky: I dont have to, & you can be sure that Tony would've said no
Becky: so this is your one shot
Becky: the only time someone will give you the benefit of the doubt
Becky: dont risk it doing it again
me: I appreciate it. I honestly didn't think I was doing anything wrong. In the future I will double check the line through chat If it seems too high. But really I don't place bets very often so it was not intentional.
Becky: I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this time

EDIT: I've been on this site awhile and I remember reading about people actually talking to the "Boss" of the site in chat. I googled who this was because I coudn't remember his name. I quickly found that it was "Tony" so that's how I knew to request to speak with him.

BOLD: When she typed this I wanted to reply: "Well that would be the $35,000 when I bet the line at +70,000". But I didn't want to piss her off after she was accepting the +7000 lol

So in the end I lose out on my chance at 35K, but I kinda of knew it was too good to be true for a #1 v. #2 seed.

But I was able to secure the +7000 line when it is currently at +5050. So I will win $3500 as opposed to $2525 at the current odds.

A couple interesting points about my wager:

1. I would not have originally placed a $50 bet at +7000 odds on Hawks v. Rockets.

2. The unbelievable +70,000 odds is what drew me to place the wager.

3. After having my original wager deleted I feel that I have to place a bet on the matchup anyway as I would kill myself if it actually ends up happening.

4. So if I end up winning the $3,500 I have 5Dimes error to thank for it, as I would have never placed the bet in the first place if it wasn't for the erroneous line.

That's terrible customer service. They put the wrong odds and made the mistake, and they are not even apologising and instead threatening you to not take advantage of bad lines again?

I can see why they could cancel bets with "obvious errors". They need to protect themselves from huge losses due to mistakes. However, I'm not even sure if this can be considered a case where it should be obvious for you that the odds were wrong. It's only one added 0. It's not even obvious that you tried taking advantage of a bad line.

When it's the same type of situation, only it's a purchase and not a bet, usually when buying something for 1/10 of the price it can be argued that the customer bought it in good faith and that the store has to honor that price. At least where I come from. Not sure about your consumer laws. Even less sure about your laws when it comes to gambling.

this is essentially the reason why i don't like playing against the house-- you're battling against them instead of them making it off the rake / service end. both sides are naturally interested in taking advantage of the other.

but the least they could do on a cancellation is to offer an automated apology and maybe a little coupon for something or other. no need to get all dickish with you after you explained your situation.

By bringing up the error to the 5Dimes staff I may have ended up saving myself $3500.

Let's say I knew the line was bad but I hoped they would not find out and I let the bet play out. Let's say I win the bet, and I get the 35K posted in my account. Sooner or later the error would have been spotted, probably before the payout but at the very least during my attempt to cash out.

If I would have had that same conversation with them after the fact there's no way they would be giving me any money, I would have been screwed, they would have definitely seen it as me trying to cheat and I would have ended up with $0.

At least this way I should get the $3500 without any issue.

I honestly don't expect much else. They are based in Costa Rica and there's not much USA players can do if something is done incorrectly. With that said, 5Dimes is one of the highest rated sports books around. I have withdrew $700 in the past without any issues.

I read an interview on "Tony" the CEO/Boss of 5dimes. Supposedly he was one of the top gamblers in the world and was presented with the opportunity to open his own booking site. He was doing all this is his 30's. He's probably got a dope mansion in Costa Rica.

i understand that some banks have an online service that will create a temporary proxy visa card linked to your real CC. it will work once for that transaction and then disappear.

in other words... a way to provide a working CC# that can't be potentially abused by outfits like this one or any others.

On 5Dimes you have to deposit at least $50 so I don't put money in very often.

i've had friends who've gotten their CC's or debit cards scammed pretty heavily by someone who may have intercepted their number through the payment process.

some people just have debit cards, and those are much harder to get refunded i think.

also, my suggestion above is for anyone who wants to make payment more of a one-stop shopping thing and with a higher level of security.

In other news, a lucky punter in Australia placed a 2 leg multi on 2 rugby games picking the exact margin for both games. 7pt victory and an 8pt victory. He put $100 down to win $262,000.. amazingly he won... and they're calling it the greatest bet in sportsbet history. :applause:

In other news, a lucky punter in Australia placed a 2 leg multi on 2 rugby games picking the exact margin for both games. 7pt victory and an 8pt victory. He put $100 down to win $262,000.. amazingly he won... and they're calling it the greatest bet in sportsbet history. :applause:

Shit like this makes me wish I could go back in time. Hell, first thing first I would do is win the mega millions when it's at $100 mill (you notice I'm not that greedy because I didn't say when the pot is at $400 mill :pimp: )

And then I would just chill and buy ISH and upgrade the servers. Nuttin but lurv guys <3
