and gets fouled... Isnt that a tech? Shouldn't that be a counter strategy?

He could definitely run away from Baines and force someone else to foul him.

And the NBA actually made a rule that stops DJ from running off the court.

Yeah, let him sit court side while his team attacks with 4

I was just thinking this. Also what if Blake hugs him and takes the foul instead. What if DJ just runs away from the fouler into the crowd

Or what if you make a barrier around DJ with Blake and Barnes hugging him to prevent the Spurs from touching him

Rivers is too lazy to think about this

If you watch the game they often run two players at him early in the clock. They had two fastbreaks and they went at DJ to kill the fast break. I don't mean to tax your brain, but watch the game.

I think you can only be 5 sec or something like that out of bound even if don't have the ball, if not is a technical. But I'm not sure.

LOL, WOW. Even to just walk/run up the court? The 4 on 4 game heavily favors the creativity of Paul/Crawford and Blake.

There has to be a counter move.

Spurs will just stand there and watch the shot clock expire/ defend 2 on 4.

The best thing a coach can do is trust him to hit the FT's, if he's not bench him.

He should just run into the crowd and have them protect him :lol

i'm not sure but I think I saw a bulls game where they are going for an end of quarter play. Mike Dunleavy ran out of bounds for more spacing I guess and was called for a violation. I also remember his defender chasing him out of bounds :lol

Would be hilarious if DJ ran. Would be like watching absurdly large children playing tag.

Nba should allow the other members of the team to defend/boxout the players trying to foul DJ :lol

1. You are not allowed to be out of bounds for no reason or leave the court when you are an active player

2. It's still a regular foul

Don't be bitter, I clearly was joking as much as the guy who gave the barrier idea.

I still think Hack-a-whoever is a bad idea for the team who's hacking. All Jordan has to do is make 1 out of 2 and it's similar to shooting 50% on 2 pointers considering you're getting 2 points every other possession.

It also prevents the Spurs from getting in transition. You can't steal the ball, or get a long rebound because you aren't giving yourself the opportunity. You always have to inbound the ball, or head to your hoop from the FT line. You also have to shoot 50% FG to counterbalance what DJ is likely to put up.

He staying out of bounds on offense is a counter strategy?

It did kill all the momentum going Clippers' way after DJ's monster block on Ginobili.

no pun intended

People laugh, but this running away is a legitimate strategy. If you notice in this GIF, Jodie Meeks was force to give the foul, instead of the player they wanted to give the foul. If Jordan can make one of the legit starters for the Spurs foul him instead of some scrub, it can cause issues for the Spurs later in the game. You also open up the chance that while two or more Spurs are chasing Jordan, the Clipps may get an easy bucket.

It also makes the NBA look bush league, which may encourage the NBA to finally change the intentional foul rule.

inbounder rushes in to join the others and form fence around deandre. They are each facing the defender, as if they were playing on ball defense, so if somebody tries to hack DJ, then they can take the hit instead and go to the line themselves. Deandre is in the centre, dribbling the ball, while Chris Paul leads the charge and calls the play using gridiron football like code-language depending on the situation.

With a lot of practice they could ramp up the speed/complexity, so that the diamond around deandre is moving around freely around the court as if it were a player itself.
