Can anyone explain why he isnt a Celtic starting PG? He outscores everyone and gets more playing time than Marcus Smart?

They know he is easily better than Smart but they want to use him as a spark off the bench.

With that being said, Isaiah Thomas is the most underrated player in the NBA. He can fvcking SCORE. Right up there with Curry, Westbrook, Paul as far as scoring goes if you give him as many minutes as them.

The Celtics have started games well so I dont think it matters.

Because we've already seen it in Sacramento and it didn't translate into success.

He's perfect in his role right now. It's what he is. A very good scorer off the bench. Nothing more.

you always need a guy like him coming off the bench

might be true. But couldnt it evolve into even more if he started and had 40ish mins?

Maybe, but who would be the guy that we trust to come off the bench? We still got a lot of time for this team to develop, it's possible that he might begin to start.

yea if you get 20 points in 25 minutes from a guy, may as well keep him in that role.

There's no question he's good enough to start, but his scoring off of the bench is a really nice lift. Besides, our starters usually don't have a problem getting out in front early as currently constituted.

The Celtics aren't a starting 5 and then some bench guys as Stevens runs it; its a 9-12 man roster on any given night with most guys getting 20+ minutes of run depending on how the game is going. Whether that's a recipe for continued success? We'll see.

I'd rather have the scoring spark off the bench with him.

Start Smart and Bradley for defensive purposes.
