View Full Version : How will crying about Lebron dumping him affect Riley's legacy?

Do you think it will hurt how we remember Riles? He's doing it towards the end of his career in basketball, as he's now in his 70s. So it might stick in our memory more than if it happened during a couple years tucked into the middle of the career.

How will pouting about a player affect his image as a basketball alpha? Will it be damaged?

Riley has another big FA summer left in 2016...with the new TV deal and a pretty empty payroll sheet, he's sure to land some big names to put the Heat atop the East again.

it will be his last big move and likely retire soon after. him losing Lebron is not a knock to Riley IMO, it's more so on Mickey in not spending the cash and cutting pieces to save a few bucks. Riley is head of bball operation for the Heat so he is the voice, and takes the "Heat".

regardless, Riley will go down as the greatest FO personnel in the NBA, no one has done it better throughout the years.

Yup. No one will remember his work with the Showtime Lakers, the 90s Knicks, the '06 Heat, engineering 'the decision'.

All anyone will remember is him being salty about Bron cowardly tucking tail and running away (again) after publicly promising an easy minimum 8 championships.

Exactly.

Can't fault the old guy for being salty doe. If you hired a contractor to re-tile your floors and he was all like 'this gon be easy. I'm gon do not 5, not 6, not 7 rooms' and then ran away to another city after only finishing 2 out of 4 rooms... you'd be pretty f*cking salty too.

People barely care now. Why would this impact his legacy?
