People have overrated him the last two years, hence why people are so surprised by how he's playing now. He's been pretty average most of the season. Shot hasn't been dropping and he's terrible on defense. His shooting hand has been injured since all star break so I'm hoping he comes back firing next season and improves his defence in the mean time.

Dont forget marketing. This guy was never an above average PG or elite. He has a great marketing team, and had a lot of cute plays. There is absolutely no case that he is better than Teague, Conley, post smith Jennings, Tony Parker etc but you wouldn't know that watching ESPN, and watching adidas commercials. Absolutely overrated by the media

He's been hyped up way too much this season. I can remember people saying he was better than Westbrook earlier in the year, after they each had 40 points in a head to head but Lillard got the W. He's still a top-10 PG easily imo but he's not an elite tier PG, never was.
