It's just an extreme form of the "I'm a sensitive dude" bit that people have always tried to make girls like them in the early teen phase. The difference is that back in the day, those dudes just got ignored. Now the internet makes it possible to receive extreme amounts of attention for that type of behavior.

I don't think there is some wide scale feminist wave occuring among younger males. It's just that a small minority have found a way to carve out their slice of attention using that as their thing.
