What team would the Lakers have?
Here's the package the NBA rejected from the Lakers, which would have been a three-team trade with the Rockets:
Hornets get: Goran Dragic, Kevin Martin, Luis Scola, and New York's 2012 1st-round pick (which became Royce White)
Lakers get: Chris Paul
Rockets get: Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom

Are some of you seriously that dense? Regret doesn't have to pertain strictly to one's own decisions.

Would he rather be playing with a broken down Kobe than with Blake and DJ? No...
Dwight hated sharing the ball with Kobe. Imagine how little he would have the ball if Kobe and CP3 were on his squad. I also can't imagine how it would have worked with Kobe and CP3.
And Kobe would still have aged. Clips > Lakers for CP3s time there. And it hasn't been close.

Why would he want to play with Kobe? It would have worked out worse than Rondo with the Mavs especially with Kobe going down with injuries year after year

He was very vocal about being pissed about the veto. He wanted to be on the Lakers and only stayed with the Clippers when he saw what a good fit they were and how much sway he pulled. He has nothing at all to regret. Plus, it's not his fault that his team got stuck playing against the defending champs in the first round.
This CP3 hate is getting out of hand.

To the idiots:
Regret- feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity)

Let's put this shit into context here, would Kobe be injury prone right now if D'antoni didn't run him into the ground? Would he had to take on all ball distributing duties because Nash was ineffective after the Lillard clash and make up on offense what Dwight, Pau and Artest lacked because of season nagging injuries?
If The Lakers had made the smart move, hired Phil Jackson after bringing in Dwight, you honestly think a core of Cp3, Howard and Kobe ( who was still balling outta his mind around 2012-13) wouldn't have been a winning Team?
If not , your hate for Kobe is stronger than logic itself.

OP not that bright....how the hell could CP3 have control over the veto?
btw....even if the veto didnt go and he was playing with the lakers....same shit.....

Clips is also a winning team and will be for longer than Lakers would've been so why would there be any regret?

Bro, that core and coaching could've easily did what The Heat did the last four years and won most of em too. With Phil it's never about consistency with a Team over a long period of time, that's Pop's game. It's about complete dominance in a short period of time. Repeating.

It will be if this man never wins anything , I guarantee you that.
He'll always wonder what could've been when he sees the purple and gold.
Btw, I don't think Cp3 is a choker or anything like that. Perhaps alittle overrated for a guy who hasn't been to a Conference Final..but yea.

Lets be clear, no one ever has run themselves harder for longer than Kobe has done to himself. His workouts are legendary. But all that wear and team coupled with almost 50,000 NBA minutes and his advanced age says YES. Kobe would have broken down physically. Dwight has been right for one series since he left ORL. You think that team is beating OKC and SAS the last 3 years? No. They just aren't. And its not particularly close.

Bill Simmons made a video about what he thinks would have happened if Paul had been traded (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaaEbqWwGKo). I don't know how accurate his predictions are but it was an interesting video.

Here is another definition:
"Regret is a negative conscious and emotional reaction to personal past acts and behaviors"
I've always considered regret something that you feel from your own actions, meaning you wish you wouldn't have done it. But whatever i'm not gonna get into semantics. There was nothing Cp3 could've done to change that veto so it would be pointless to get all upset over it.

Am I the only person who saw Kobe'a interview at his locker after the game? Kobe chuckles a little about the question and says "like coach is going to tell me when to come out of the game"
You guys want to make Mike D'Antoni the scapegoat but Kob'e the one who did it to himself. Even Phil said (back in the early 2000's) that Kobe is one of the most un-coachable players he's ever had. If he's not going to listen to Phil at times...what makes you think a more ego blown Kobe 10yrs later is going to listen to Mike D?

No teammates would've wanted to play with Chris Paul, and Kobe at the same time.
Especially not these new era clowns, and Dwight still would've left. They would've been more competitive in those 2012, and 2013 seasons though.
Seriously, CP3, and Kobe are old school tough. And leaders that expect near perfection from teammates. There is no good cop leadership in that equation. Both are control freaks too. Both perpetually grumpy.
They'd ruin all teammates confidence, run them all out of town, then eventually clash with each other for being too similar.

He regrets the veto cause he ended up in this Clippers, a shit franchise in a mediocrity treadmill.
If he could go back he wouldn't have vetoed, imo.

Jeff can we have negs back?
It did kind of screw the Lakers. I really think Dwight would've ended up staying. CP3 would've gotten him the ball more and in better situations and the Lakers would've won a lot more to the point that Dwight would've looked dumb for leaving. The Lakers wouldn't have been in a situation where Kobe would've had to play so much and his injury situation the past few years wouldn't have been nearly as bad. With that said, that doesn't necessarily mean they would've won a title. CP3 and Kobe would've been a difficult mix considering how much they both need the ball. On top of that, beating San Antonio or Miami is not a given.

It's one of the biggest what if scenarios ever, the NBA would look drastically different had this gone through and Lamar Odom maybe wouldn't have had his breakdown. Hopefully it worked out in another timeline.

Kobe, CP3, Howard and Phil Jackson would have been the start of a dynasty. Instead, the Lakers have imploded and CP3 is a perpetual choker on a joke of a franchise.
But hey, basketball reasons... :facepalm
:kobe:
In all honesty, I don't think the Lakers would have made the trade for Howard a year later had the trade for CP3 gone through..
Why not? No one from the CP3 trade was used in the Howard trade. And trading for Howard at the time was the right move.
