Deron pretty much owes Sloan his career.

Sloan and Rudy T are two incredibly underrated basketball minds.

Tomjanovich especially.

And yes, Sloan's system is ideal for PGs.

I guess that depends on what you define as "so good". I mean...he hasn't really accomplished much even in his Sloan days.

Deron was healthy and injury free....That's the end of the story....

Pierce tends to believe it's the bright lights of NY which have caused him to go astray...

had deep playoff runs and was considered a top 3 PG. People legit had arguments with him and CP3.

He was hungry and out to prove he was amongst the best in the game. Fat contract and injuries have taken away his desire to work hard to be elite.

Pretty much this. He was young, hungry, and dominant. Then he got paid and injuries took there toll and he stopped working on his game to reach the top.

Are you talking about Chris Paul?

the system he ran was tailor made to his strengths and he ran sets/indicated the tempo of game

if you remember, the reason Sloan was fired was because Williams felt that hew was running too much of a "Controlled system" and how that was stopping him for being a superstar caliber player because he didn't have the freedom to run an offense like Chris Paul or LBJ who don't run as many set plays

goes to show you, you don't know how good you have it until its gone

Or he got hurt...

He's a poor floor general. He does well in set play situations and p&r.

Sloan put him in a position to succeed

i sometimes forget how good he was. in his 3rd year at 23 years old dude was putting up 19/10.5/3 on 50% shooting and 40% from 3 :biggums:

The Jazz draft record can actually be considered decent if you dont factor in the lack of championships.

It wasn't Sloan alone. Deron has had flashes of his old self at times in Brooklyn. Hell, didn't he have a 57 point game not that long ago? It has more to do with injuries, out of shape, lack of confidence, and his refusal to shed weight.

Well said! D Will wasn't a system player at all. He was a beast who was the total package. And he was bigger than most of the PG's in the league too. Skill for skill, he very good to great at everything. Injuries and weight are what stopped his march to the HOF. A healthy peak D Will would be a top 5 PG in the league right now.
