Okay apparently he dressed as timberlake for Halloween in 2010 I just googled Dwyane Wade whiteface and got the answer. I wonder what would happen if say, Jeremy Lin goes as a black celebrity this Halloween and puts on black face what would happen. Would everyone be okay with it?

2: Downy, and Tropic Thunder was a satire of Hollywood actors that go too far. His character in that movie, being an extremist method actor. It's actually satiring actors who would do "anything" including do black face - because of the very fact that it often is extremely awkward and of poor taste. The make-up for Downy was really well done however which IMO made it much easier to watch than traditional "black face". That said, yes, there still was a controversy over it. But for the reasons I just stated above. It's humor was aimed to make fun of celebrities that put on make up to change their race which is generally an act that makes people feel uncomfortable. So there was less widespread criticism... but it was still there I remember it causing a stir when that movie came out.

you're probably right, i'll have to watch the movie again to be sure.

and it did cause a little bit of a stir but i think when most took the opportunity to see the film, their opinion on the matter changed.

i do remember Spike lee(i think) saying he'll never watch it though.
