View Full Version : Carlisle fined 25k for bitching
"They're a more physical team, but this series has got to be played within the rules."
Without prompting, Carlisle specifically mentioned a long rebound by Rockets center Dwight Howard on the opening possession of the fourth quarter, a play on which Dallas guard Devin Harris ended up flat on his back by the Mavs' bench after Howard warded him off with his right arm.
"We're scrambling like hell defensively and Devin Harris is going to get the ball, and Dwight Howard throws him into our bench," said Carlisle, adding that he had reviewed the play six times on film. "He takes the ball, skips it over the top and [Trevor] Ariza gets a wide-open 3. So instead of us getting the ball and a foul on Howard, it turns into essentially a five- [or] six-point swing.
"That stuff's got to stop. The officials got to get that stuff under control, because there's too much physical stuff going on. Howard is throwing people all over the place, and that can't happen in Game 4."
Game 3

Houston 28
Dallas 28
Free Throws
Houston 21-28

This has got to stop!

This a grown man's league and Harris flopped. It should have been a foul on the floor on Devin Harris for intentionally grabbing Dwights arm.

I just looked again and I agree.

I think it could have been called a foul. Howard had a hold of his jersey.
It looked worse in RT than it actually was. But if you watched the replay from the overhead angle, Harris clearly flopped.
But one missed (maybe) call out of the whole game where you out shot your opponent by 7 even after intentionally fouling...
Carlisle is salty that Dwight, Smith, and Capela shot 8-12 from the free throw line.

I noticed some major inconsistency in the calls last game. Rockets are better than the Mavs but they did get some really interesting calls late. Either team is going to get killed next round so it doesn't even matter.

Instead of Harris rebounding a Smith bricked 3 and starting the fast break, Harris gets thrown out of bounds and Ariza drains a 3. That is a 5 point swing and huge momentum changer.

Had he not flopped and gotten back on defense instead....

If Rondo plays up to his potential (top 30 pg in the NBA) then Carlisle doesn't play Devin Harris and this whole situation is avoided. So to some degree yes...this is Rondo's fault.
Not even trolling either.

If Carlisle shuts his f*cking mouth, he doesn't get fined.

Was "bitching" part of the NBA's official statement?
