Pierce is playing better than Garnett and Allen when they were 37.

S ogiven how Pierce helped the Wiz get past te first round, should the C's have kept him somehow or are the C's better off for the trade they did for him?

Definitely better for what they got. Pierce would not have put them over the edge this season.

The Celtics have a billion draft picks and financial flexibility to improve their team. They have a championship-quality coach and a few good players in their early and mid-20s. They are in a perfect position to attract or draft players to fit into their environment.

:facepalm No just stop. They made the playoffs in a historically terrible conference with a sub .500 record because of the archaic rule that 8 teams from each conference must make the playoffs. Then they proceed to get swept by LeBeta without putting up much fight (other than breaking Love's shoulder), but now it's "championship quality"?

Does Bill Simmons secretly post here? This is just beyond silly.

I based it off watching him coach, not his record or accomplishments. He runs a great offense, makes good substitutions, and has the respect of his players and peers. His players play as hard as any in the league. His in-game adjustments have been impressive. I've been watching basketball long enough to know a great coach for an average coach.

You may disagree, but I'm sold on Brad Stevens.

Pierce should give Garnett his Finals MVP. He deserved it more.

If we took conference out of the equation, the only change would be OKC making it instead of Brooklyn. The Celtics still would have made the playoffs.

Not saying that makes Stevens a championship-caliber coach at all; he's still got a lot of growing as a coach to do, just as any team does when you're in a top-down rebuild...they all have serious work to do this summer. But let's not act like a 15-game improvement in one season with a cast of f*cking nobodies for the second year in a row is small potatoes. And those wins didn't come against the dregs of the league; several were against playoff teams and a few of those losses were tough ones against the best.

That's pretty debatable, considering the Suns gave up at a certain point because there was no way they were catching OKC/NO. If they played hard to the end they certainly would have had a better record than the Celts.

Suns traded away their two best players and then proceeded to suck..

We could attach a hundred if's to any discussion and just go in circles, dude. Bottom line is the Celtics had the 16th best record in the league.

I love Pierce (hence the username) but KG was the most important Celtic during the best days of the Big 3 Era
