View Full Version : What First Round Sweep Surprised You The Most?

The first round's dust is somewhat starting to settle. Through the storm we can faintly see a few champions emerging. However, to our surprise, there are bodies bloodied and battered along the way. These bodies are the teams that were swept. Teams that, on the outside, looked like predators. Upon further analysis, they were frauds. They were pretenders. They were prey. The snake that had the skin of a truly venomous killer; but in reality, was just a rat snake. That could easily be dealt with swift and in a hurry. These rat snake teams were none other than the New Orleans Pelicans, the Toronto Raptors, and the Boston Celtics.
Out of all three of these teams, that were swept, which one surprised you the most? Which one of these frauds tricked you into believing they were a king cobra or a black mamba?

I thought Raptors will last till ~6 games, other sweeps were fully expected. AD was a beast though.

You're not the only one. It seems a lot of people thought the Raptors were somewhat formidable. The Raptors were the team that built the roof of their house before building the foundation. Meaning, when things got tough, as in the playoffs, everything started to crumble. It was like all the Wizards had to do was take out one toothpick, from their toothpick house, and the whole thing would fall apart.
Watching a team get dismantled, as the Raptors did, is like watching a car wreck. It's something that you think shouldn't be happening but is happening. I can only imagine how Raptors fans feel. Their team fell completely apart.

Raptors. I was expecting a much closer series, I had no clear winner, advantage Wizards but in 6 games at least.

I'll speak for most, if not all Raptors fans here, and say that this doesn't really bother me much, considering there's a curse on Toronto sports teams in full effect. Disappointments and let downs don't phase most of us anymore.
Further more, the GM did say there would be some major changes (win or lose in the playoffs) happening to the roster because didn't believe they would go far. If it means getting rid of the coach, improving the starting lineup with good defensive players, adding more defense to the bench, or even going for a complete rebuild... then it's fine. At least a series like this should show to make a serious change in the personel.

Yeah the Wizards have a team built better for the postseason. Serviceable big men, veteran leadership, go to allstar, etc. But I think most people expected a more competitive series.

Well, it's good to see genuine fans still exist. Nowadays, people just cling to whatever team LeBron is taking his talents to.

A rebuild is stupid, but they should re-evaluate their starting lineup and see if they could make some positive changes via trade.

Yeah, I don't see a rebuild happening either... at least since the rebrand of this team this season. A retool through trade and free agency is very likely, I agree.
First step though, get a better coach. Coach Thibs is likely leaving Chicago after this year right ? If so, I would like to ssee the organization go after him. If not him, then Mike Malone.

Toronto. I thought that would be one of the most evenly matched.

Almost happened, but I think the huge fourth quarter comeback is a testament to how good and explosive the Warriors' offense is.
