Their front court right now is:
Mozgov/Thompson/Perkins
Lebron could play pf. If Mozgov and Thompson get in foul trouble, they have no one else. McGee would be better than freaking Haywood.

I think he can. He was released before the deadline for being eligible for playoffs.

if any team could sign a player anytime, who would go into the playoffs lacking depth due to injury?

They can still sign players till the last day of the regular season, so your logic doesn't apply.
