Just got done reading The Jordan Rules and within the book it entails some of the rants he'd go in with teammates, belittling them (Cartwright included).

Pretty eye-opening stuff. He isn't a saint but none of us are really.

Dude was a scumbag, but it was a necessary evil. He wouldn't have had all his success or be the GOAT without these traits

Portrays himself well in the media, always saying the right things and he has some very wise words among that massive ego.

He has a sense of humour and can be quite funny as well.

Has that beaming but cheeky white smile too. No homo

could you imagine if these stories were directed towards females? SJW's wouldn't stop until Jordan was in jail.

Kobe is quite similar. Not as full on though. But he gets hell for throwing his teammates under the bus.

Imagine Jordan in Wilt's body.
The only difference would be more people Wilt knew (specifically, teammates) would get punched. Wilt was already every bit as competitive minded and behaved the same way, never wanting to lose/not letting people leave/quit a game (of any type) he was involved in until he'd won. He just acted that way without throwing punches. Because he'd probably seriously injure people if he ever did.

Come to think of it MJ in Wilt's body would definitely be in prison.

We can all respect Wilt and his achievements and as an all time great, but what you write here is pure BS. Lack of competetive edge towards winning was Wilt`s (only) flaw. No way he compares to Mike, the raging bull, the ultimate win at all cost in everything. Wilt was quite happy with posting the best stats, driving a fancy car and having his women. He didn`t need to win like Mike.

Also, to OP, I don`t think anyone would describe Mike as a really nice person. Clearly he is not. But he`s still the GOAT, and those stories are part of the legend :pimp:

Michael Jordan is as competitive as a man could be.

When play with friends during the 90s we trash talked a lot, and we were no friends on court. We played as hard as we could, but it is nothing when we played and there was money on the table, then it was nasty and there was blood. We played as men and respected each other. Nowadays you played with 17-18 year old teens and during the middle of the game someone quit because he feels that nobody pass him the ball !? They have all the conditions we missing 20 years ago, they played for school teams but they are all cry babes, care only for their good lookings, they feel constantly offended and even a slight remark could make them feel insecure.

About Barkley story - do someone seriously think that a present (even if it is a diamond earing) could make a pro and millionaire like Barkley to play soft in the Finals ?

Do someonse seriously thinks that Jordan ruined Mugsy's career with one sentence? Is that a mentality of veteran pro ?

If someone like MJ screamed at me and embarrassed me in practice it would motivate me to play at my best and put extra efforts and extra hard against him. Training hard and playing hard against the best would make you better player and prepare you better for the real game. If you crumbles under pressure on practice, than what about in the real game when it matters most. You would take your whole team down with you.

Tony Kukoc was one of the best European player ever and had been 3 times player of they year in Europe, best player of World championship in 1990, having won all possible award before joining Bulls in 1994. He was treated as a rookie, and we all know what happens when Croatia met Dream team in 1992 Olympic games (the first game). He was humiliated by Jordan and Pippen. But he played strong in the Final (the second game) vs Dream team. In his first practices he was outplayed badly by Pippen, he played limited minutes as Phil Jackson was made him his whiping boy for his soft defense and rebounding, but he doesn't quit and even hit 4 or 5 game winning shots during the season, the last bein the famous shot vs Kniks in '94 ECF (when Pippen refused to enter the court after PJ designed the last play for Kukoc, instead of Pippen). Kukoc remained with the Bulls and became an integral part of the Bulls team during 2nd three peat. He even won the 6th man of the year award. That's how you respond to chalenge.

Dude quit playing defense whenever he was in foul trouble. Choking FT's. Going from 30 PPG in the RS to 22 in the PO's and 18 PPG in the Finals. :oldlol:

Wonder if Scottie used Jordan's small dick as trash talk during practice.

"You can't guard me, you're too slow," said MJ

"Not my fault, my dick is too heavy," said Scottie

Free throws are his only flaw.

Competitiveness he was as competitive a player that has ever played.

https://youtu.be/_B7jVTJ_CIE?t=9m50s

"Wilt did not like to lose he always wanted to win" - former NBA player Jim Barnett

"(Wilt) Wanted to win at everything he did... Every-thing. he. did." - Kansas Journalist Bill Mayer, friend of Wilts

"There's only one other athlete that I would compare to Wilt from a standpoint of being competitive and wanting to win at everything they did and that would be Michael Jordan. If you beat him, you had to keep playing cause he was determined to be a winner." - Maurice King former teammate at KU

Want more testimony like this? I've got tons. Wilt is described by everyone who knew him as one of the most competitive people that they had ever known let alone played the game. Compared with people like Michael Jordan in that aspect of his mentality.

You don't go out and shatter records no one had ever thought was possible nor anyone could ever touch unless you are a psycho competitor. I really question anyone's intelligence who believes otherwise.

That list reads like Hercules' legendary journeys. We're talking mythical level alphaness. Scratch that, to call it alpha would be disrespectful. That's apex predator, Black Daniel Plainview shit.

That's my GOAT

I'm sure there's plenty of truthful stories out there about Jordan's demeanor, but some have the feel of being awfully stretched. For instance, Bogues was a mediocre jump shooter to begin with and I'm absolutely certain it didn't take eight years in the NBA before an opponent thought to make a derogatory comment about his height. Missing a crucial shot can affect one's confidence moving forward, but I don't think I see Jordan's trash talk in this case as holding up as being a legitimate reason.

I believe human behavior is learned and adopted throughout our lives...but of course the most important times are often in our childhood.

MJ had 2 great parents who were both a dominating " helicopter type" Mom and Dad..Often times MJ told stories of his Dad shaming him in front of his family....

" If you gonna cry like a girl go work in the kitchen with the rest of the women!"....

" Good thing you can play basketball because you are no good for anything else"

MJ most likely had his Mother to console him.....being the positive light to his Fathers negative dark side....

Reinforcement

Punishment
Positive Something is added to increase the likelihood a behavior will occur Something is added to decrease the likelihood a behavior will occur

Negative Something is taken away to increase the likelihood a behavior will occur Something is taken away to decrease the likelihood a behavior will occur

With his Fathers negative and his Mothers Positive it helped MJ grow up to be the man he is.....it also helped him become great at basketball.

- He overcame his fathers pain ( who he inflicted on his sons) and it gave him pleasure....every great move, every slamdunk, every swish, every championship....he was destroying the monster and helping the queen ( his mother)

- to break it down even further.....that's why PJAX and MJ worked so well together.....PJAX is more of the positive Motherly persona.....while MJ was more of the domineering Father persona ......through MJ's own experience he adopted his Fathers way of teaching ( to dominate and belittle someone until they finally decide to either quit or survive)

they both balanced the team.

- same way when looking at the Spurs....except the roles are reversed...TD is far more layed back and positive " the light side" and Pop is more of the Darkside, Stearn , Demeaning, ...they balance the Force...
