Because it's just clumsy and awkward when trying to apply it to other people.

How about "low-line"?
Low-Line = the strategy of putting a low percentage free throw shooter on the free throw line.
Like: "it looks like they're low-lining Deandre".

Nah, it should stay. It has a nice ring to it, and he earned it as a staple. His ego will learn to deal with it. He likes to name everything after himself anyway.

Hack A Guy That Doesn't Work On His Freethrows Then Whines That The League Needs To Change The Rules To Bail Him Out?
Nah, I think Hack-a-Shaq is here to stay. Flows off the tongue a bit better.

Shaq's been saying that for the past 20 years.
Shaq is too alpha and a legend to be disrespected and named after missing his own free throws. Dude has 4 rings. At least name it after a beta with none, like Hack A Dwight. Then it makes sense.

Hack a "insert name"
I get that Shaq was the first guy they did it to, but it sounds retarded to say hack a Shaq when it's Deandre Jordan
Hack a Jordan was fine

Another problem with "Hack a Shaq" is that it can't be used as a verb.
What I mean is, the language around the term is awkward. You hear "San Antonio is going with the 'hack-a-Jordan' here" and not "San Antonio is 'hack-a-Jordan'ing the Clippers"... what we need is a term that can be used as a verb.
I like "spam-foul". They're spam-fouling DeAndre Jordan.

What about 'fouling'? Like 'And they are now deliberately fouling Dwight when ever he gets the ball"

And that's precisely why it should stay.
