View Full Version : Why do teams still allow the Spurs to beat them from the 3pt line?

I would make any of their stars score 40 instead of helping and allowing open 3s.

Weird isn't it... like why do teams let people like Kobe, Jordan and Lebron average 25 plus point every game. Its almost as though its difficult to stop them

It isn't hard to stop guys who aren't triple threats if you stay disciplined. You can't compare stopping a dominant offensive player to defending statues with no handles

When they have elite ball movement it is very difficult to stop

Only because the Clippers don't have a smart gameplan. You cannot be helping off shooters on Duncan inside and you cannot be playing Parker so tight if you want to beat this team.

Remember the 2013 series vs the Heat? Spurs were torching the Heat from deep and if it wasn't for Ray Allen, the Heat would've lost. But Miami stuck with the plan and continued with their scrambling defense. Spurs went cold from 3 and Miami was able to beat them

Worst free throw shooting team in the world.

I'd run a 3-2 zone all game against them. It'd take away their 3 point shot for the most part. I don't think Splitter and Duncan have it in them to go all game banging inside against other bigs.

Like I said, this Spurs team is all smoke and mirrors. They cannot beat anyone good without shooting a ridiculous % from 3

I don't know about the 3-2 zone, but one thing I know is teams should never double their post players.
Teams always get killed with they double Duncan, Splitter or Diaw. Let them go 1 on 1.
Their 3 point shooting is more dangerous.

It's true, but they hit crazy percentages so there is nothing you can do.

You have to be disciplined. Switch everything on the perimeter instead of trying to fight through screens. Secure the rebound and don't leak out on missed 3s. Do not trap their guards, Do not double in the post, Do not play Parker tight.

They're smart about it. Only seem to post when they have a mismatch.
