 Absolutely NONE of those are his fault. You want him to fight through 2 screens? :hammerhead:
Don't be ridiculous, he is a great defender and he played all those as well as he could have. Just because Flake beats his big men on a spin has nothing to do with his defense. If anything, maybe on those picks against big men he should go under the screen.

This was the only real mistake he made. He definitely should have went under the screen.
Most of those are long two's, which is exactly what defenses are willing to concede.

They were mistakes by Popovich. It was obvious that Kawhi couldnt get over screens especially that high halfcourt double screen so Pop should have adjusted and put him closer to the basket and away from the ball handlers.

Obviously he is a good defender, but the series certainly showed his faults.

People who flood a thread with video clip gifs don't understand the internet.
So many reasons, one it gives you a ****ing headache to look at two video clips on top of each other... and another would be that it always lags everything on the screen.

This GIF is amazing - the wider driving lanes provided by spacing and the hands-off defensive rules allow SO much time and space for the ballhandler, that even a wide-bodied, bumbling Blake Griffin can set up lane penetration like a guard..
Imagine if Barkley, Mason, Coleman or Hakeem got a whiff of this spacing.. Apparently, anyone can be a successful perimeter player in today's spaced-out non-physical game..

Defenders like Kawhi Leonard (Paul George / Andre Iguodala / Jimmy Butler) you just screen out/switch on the pick/screen with a big guy & roll/pop and now Kawhi either become a mismatch guarding the big guy or try to chase his man anyways (which is his choice, because he knows cant handle Griffin or Deandre or something).... He aint big/strong enough to hold his own against big dudes and be a great help defender, so he would rather not help there....
He simply does this to avoid doing any help defense/switching to those big guys(who would pick/screen him)... I mean when a pick/screen comes if he cant fight through it he should switch to the pick/screen and let his teammate help on his man.... instead of just doing what he does, especially in this series which was to get screened out and leave the guy he should switch to and be to late/out of position to get in the face of his man again.... its like he refuses to let go of his man and pays for it....
Clippers exploited that very well.
Kawhi has great lateral quickness (staying infront) & hands/anticipation/gambling (stealing) for the perimeter... can handle SG/SF/PG (in that order)... and yes he is 6'6-6'7" or whatever, but he aint no Pippen/Pistons Rodman/Lebron/Kirilenko, he isnt that versatile (big/strong) to be such a help defender.... Kawhi is more closer to a Payton (perimeter limited defense) rather than Pippen/Lebron/Pistons Rodman/Kirilenko (guys who were never a mismatch guarding anybody, unless it was Shaq or some Giant like that).....

Today's defender is simply helpless when covering the extra ground required by spacing, and being hands-off while doing it..
In previous eras, Kawhi was allowed to physically fight through the screens.. Most importantly, the driving lanes were smaller, so the screen-roll was in closer proximity to other defenders.. Contrastingly, today's spacing allows two-man isolations further out on the floor that are impossible for any defense to stop..
