Ain't gonna lie--I used to hate Cleveland back in the day as much as I hated Detroit. And only because the Cavs seemed to leap frog the Bulls in 1989 to become, as Magic Johnson once said, the "Team of the 90s". That season, a year after the Bulls beat the Cavs in the first round in 1988, the Cavs got remarkably better, challenging Detroit for supremacy in the East. As a matter of fact, they had the best record in the league for most of the year, until the Pistons passed them late in the season. Cleveland would end up tied with the Lakers for the second-best record, IIRC.

Of course, we all know what happened in the 1989 playoffs, where MJ added to his already growing legend, leading the Bulls past the much favored Cavs (who swept the Bulls in the regular season 6-0) via "The Shot", and past the also favored Knicks (and starting a new rivalry that went well into the 90s) to meet Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Bulls would lose to the Pistons, but they had supplanted Cleveland as the aforementioned "Team of the 90s" when they finally got past Detroit in 1991, on the way to winning--wait for it, dubeta--6 RANGS, bitch. :pimp:

Anyways, as years go on, and rivalries die down, you tend to get reflective about times past. When you get older (and yes, young bloods, you will get older), you do get nostalgic, thinking back fondly on the battles and struggles your favorite players and teams had against others. As much as I hated the Cavs back then (and the Pistons, too) I did not wish any ill towards them. So, a few years back, when I heard about Craig Ehlo having personal struggles, it saddened me. After reading this article, I'm glad he got his life back on track. And I'm glad that he can laugh any time "The Shot" is brought up. Ehlo's always been a good guy.
