Looks like shit because you have to trim the front so they can grow out evenly or else you are going to get that ugly growing out look.

My experience has been trim/fade the sides/neckline and let the front (entire goatee area) grow a bit longer - longest part being the stache.

Like, how a good fade haircut with it longer on the top looks good I've noticed at least on me a faded beard looks best. Everyone's different though.

I have a wahl set of clippers, every few days I trim my chin area to about a level 4, and everything else minus the stache to a level three, and fade the neck line out with scissors.

The stache I don't touch other than with scissors above my lip when the length gets too far over my mouth.

Well, like I said, everyone's different. On me I like my stache longer than the area around my chin. I'm not trying to go Duck Dynasty. There's probably a thousand different ways you could trim a beard.

I'm growing mine too. Most the women I talk to prefer facial hair on me but a few like minimum amount. When I shave I attract the younger women and when I have a beard, the older women want it. I think I've gone through my milf phase of older women. Will post my beards later :cheers:

As a guy that prefers to have his face lined up and I don't really like the thick look on myself, but CavsFTW got it right.

You guys should take a damn selfie and look at the patches and trim accordingly.

I don't know how long he wants to grow his but his growing out process looks clean. A lot of guys' growing out process looks like shit. Rather than looking clean they got that messy look.

I am growing out my hair again and I don't just let it get out of hand. I trim through out the process to avoid looking like a homeless. I suggest peeps do the same with beards.

Trimming can be a pain in the butt so I only do it when I'm going out with friends on weekends. I used to do the clean shave look but my beard gets way too thick now in my 20s.
