I dunno how hard it is to get an 18 on the ACT, but if he never paid attention in school then he probably wouldn't.

I rarely went to school then I dropped out as soon as I was legally able, but I still did well on the ACT because 1. some of the shit I had known from school/life and 2. I got one of those little books and studied it for a few days, did the practice tests, etc.

When you factor in that you can get a study book and do practice tests, it's probably not hard to get a passable score. However, if he was just like **** it I'm gonna do the ACT x 3 then he could probably fail every time.

And I guess people exist who can look at a study book and be like... wut. It's hard for me to imagine, tho.

You do have to care, tho. With a decent tutor, anyone should be able to do well on a test. You don't have to be a genius to play basketball, but it does take intelligence to make correct decisions, find angles, etc. Someone would just need to put it in those terms.
