[quote]The father of Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson, former NBA player Mychal Thompson, said Friday that the Warriors are going to "go hard" after Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant when he hits free agency in 2016.
Thompson made the comments on ESPN LA, saying, "I also heard it on good authority from a team that plays in the Bay Area that they're going to go hard after Kevin Durant."
Mychal Thompson spent 13 seasons in the NBA, while Klay Thompson is in his fourth pro season.
Durant will hit free agency in 2016, and rumors about his future have persisted in recent years. He was limited to 27 games this past season, his eighth in the NBA, by a foot injury initially sustained last October.
The Warriors are widely expected to free up cap space by 2016 if they elect not to re-sign forward David Lee, who will make about $15.4 million next season before hitting free agency. Thompson is one of five Warriors under contract for the 2016

Regardless of what team they play for, Westbrook and Durant need to get the injuries under control otherwise they'll just be a shell of their former selves anyway.
Durant's recent injury was weird. He was talking shit before All Star game and challenged everyone to one on one him if they thought he didn't deserve it. Then he plays in the All Star game, plays hopeless and then sits out the rest of the season. Why not sit out the All Star game, gradually work your way back and then make a run in the final weeks for the playoffs? He needs to think long term more about staying healthy and at his peak.

Miami's payroll will be empty outside of Bosh and McRoberts. they have the funds and the mastermind in Riley, wouldn't count the Heat out of the running.

Am I the only one who doesn't think it's a great fit? I mean, sure, it would be amazing to have a Curry - Thompson - Durant wing combo... but who is your front court? Who is on your bench? If we had that trio, we couldn't afford Bogut or Draygod.
If we signed Durant, realistically, we would have to move Klay, and use that money to sign some front court players. I'd prefer we just stick with what we have, but obviously I'm not opposed to signing Kevin Durant. :D

right. It would be a great fit if they had the money, but... having a defensive PF and C who can set great screens are more important if Steph/Klay are your PG/SG

I think it would actually be 4. But Curry's cap hold will be ~12M, Klay is getting ~17M, Dray getting 17M and the cap will be ~90M. So theoretically...
There are going to be some really weird things happening as the salaries work through their massive discrepancies.
