Vintage Game from Grant Hill. I think this season was his last all star game appearance. He averaged almost 20 ppg on 50.9 FG%.

He was the LeBron before LeBron. LeBron just took that style of play to the next level. Its no surprise you enjoy his game :applause:

Grant Hill's career is kind of amazing. Went from mega-star to developing a life-threatening case of MRSA after doctors re-fractured his ankle on purpose to re-align it with his leg to struggling to return to the game in his prime to gaining back some semblance of what he once was then finally playing productive basketball all the way until age 40.

It almost felt like a Benjamin Button situation began to kick in once he hit his 34th birthday.

Took Grant's game to another level?

LeBron has less skill than Grant, but in a much bigger body. He didn't take anyone's game to another level. He took a lower level game and shoved a v8 into it.

You are comparing a Porsche to an RX-7 that had a Corvette engine swapped into it. Not as balanced, not as refined, just kicks the shit out of you.

James struggled with a consistent jumper coming out of high school, but Grant Hill didn't really have a super reliable jumper during his first year or two in the league either, and that was after four years of college.

Moreover, James' passing display in the very first preseason game of his life (against the Pistons) may have been on another level from which I typically saw from prime Hill. Grant was a willing passer who could make the right play, and sometimes the flashy play, but James' court vision and flat-out passing ability was incredible.

I think James' game has morphed over the years. He eventually settled into a more brutish role to some degree, while still moving at a high rate of speed and whatnot. He played a lot of point during his rookie year and that obviously tapered off once the Cavs picked up Jeff McInnis. But through his teens and a significant portion of his 20's, I was still quite amazed by his abilities. He regularly did things outside the realm of what I thought was possible for even a guy like Hill.

Of course, I guess we could say a lot of what James could do was thanks to his body and build. But then again, Hill being 6'8'' probably helped him out too. All players benefit from their freakish dimensions to some degree.

Grant was pretty unstoppable from the inside the 3 point line but he just wasn't as dominant as LeBron.
