In 1964 a guy applied for permission to cut down a tree. A tree suspected to be the oldest living thing in the history of the world.
He tried to get a core sample to count the rings but his tool thing broke so he asked to cut it down. And they ****ing let him.
He cut it down and it was aged at over 4800 years old. They let a guy cut down a nearly 5000 yearold tree just to see how old it was before they killed it?
Generally speaking....I dont care about nature. **** a tree. But that bugs me a bit. The current oldest known living thing is another tree that the government protects now. Its a little younger than the cut down one and is in southern california in a secret location in a huge forest to prevent anyone from ****ing with it. Carving a name in it or some bullshit.
How much trouble do you think you get into for say....carving the ISH logo into the tree if you knew which it was?
