I've been listening to him for a few months now - the dude is legit. I love the production style, so authentic 50's/early 60s

Good song, but... why is his barber white and his love interest is a clear transvestite?
Awkward. :lol

I discovered dude a few days ago watching Vh1 Soul.
And I don't know what's goin on in the video. It looks like it takes place in 1959 South Carolina.

What do you think?
It's alright. Maybe I need to give it more listens. It's not bad, but I thought it would have been amazing. But it is his debut.
It didn't hit me like, per say Raphael Saadiq's retro 60s soul album "Stone Rollin" from a few years back.
The best songs were the ones I posted earlier and Shine and Flowers.

Hilarious that you make this thread because as soon as I saw the thread I was playing Charles Bradley, whoi is a modern amalgamation of Cooke and Marvin Gaye to a degree.

Just checked him out. Dude is old as shit. I though it was gonna be a young up and comer, lol. But, he's is pretty good. Really good actually. He's nothin like Cooke or Gaye though.
I can't put my finger on it, but he sounds just like a 60s soul singer.

Marvin and Sam were honey, Charles Bradley is more of a Wilson Pickett type to me, pepper.

and not to jump off Leon but seeing as he's likely in the wheelhouse of Nina Simone fans, there's a new Nina Revisited tribute album, Lauryn Hill does 6 songs on it.

Paul Williams of the Temptations and JJ Jackson, that's who he sounds like. I knew it would come to me.

I like Charles Bradley a lot. He did a really good live performance as part of the A Take Away Show live series above. Really cool videos from a lot of great bands by the way. That is also how I found Benjamin Clementine.
