View Full Version : I can't really respect Carmelo as an athlete for not going to Chicago

After getting to watch the Bulls up close, Chicago was the perfect fit for him.
The team needed his strength (spacing, scoring), while they could protect against his weakness (effort, leadership).
Could have taken a two year deal and renegotiated in '17 under the new cap.
Would have been an epic series with LeBron/Kyrie/Love vs Carmelo/Rose/Butler

chicago would have been the 1 seed if Melo went to Chicago and stayed healthy. they'd be playing the wizards right now.

In the history of sports, no move will be worse than Melo deciding to stay with the Joke Knicks.

As a Knicks fan, I wish he signed with Chicago as well. He is not gonna be here when the Knicks become good again. Why did he agree to stick around? C'mon, it has to be more than the money. Does his wife really control him like that?

Her face is below average. She is also a little fat now instead of having a good thick toned body. She is the mother of his children though so it makes sense that he listened to her.

Carmelo was born in NYC and spent the first 10 or so years here only to come back, star at Syracuse and now star on his hometown team.
The difference in contract salary was about $35 million total
He likes the big stage and being the man on that stage, no bigger city than NY.
Lets face it, being the man in New York means more than being the man in Houston for example
His wife also had input in the decision
Glad to have Melo here I look forward to watching him move up the all time scoring list and eventually entering the hall of fame as a Knick

So now you have an idea about how everyone looks at you as a critical thinker.
I really didn't want to him back. He's not a leader. I would have rather built from bottom up instead of always trading and hoping we land a major player during free agency.

Yeah, the man has a lot of haters. Like LeBron, Kobe and the other greats.
Happy he's in NYC. If he was in Chicago, he'd be sidelined with his recovery, so look no further. Whatever happens regarding draft position or free agency, Knicks will turn it around in the coming season. He cost us a lot of $, but I expect to see a healthy and happy Melo back with a team that will hopefully have things in the right direction. But Melo and the Knicks aren't worth talking about until the 19th, so.....................

Help me out here. If he took 77M rather than 125M THEN you could respect him?
Because I wouldn't have respected him at that point...

I honestly don't think Anthony would've worked out in Chicago. They already have an isolation player in Rose, have both of them on the floor at the same time is redundant to me. Plus they wouldn't of gotten both Gasol and Anthony.

It's not like Chicago is OKC. After NY and LA, Chicago is the next biggest market, and the weather is similar.
Winning a championship is more important for one's legacy. Do you think Barkley or K. Malone would have stayed on a crappy Knicks team?

He'd rather sit on his fat ass and watch the Playoffs from his couch than deal with the pressure of participating in them.
The game of basketball is strictly business for Melo. Get paid, and finish the season early. Go on vacation.
Melo has no love for the game. Melo doesn't care about his legacy. Melo is not a competitor.
