Story 1
S. KOREA'S SPY AGENCY SAYS N. KOREA EXECUTED DEFENSE CHIEF (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AS_NKOREA_DEFENSE_CHIEF_EXECUTED?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-05-12-21-47-06)
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un executed his defense chief for sleeping during a meeting and talking back to the young leader, South Korea's spy agency told lawmakers Wednesday, citing what it called credible information.
National Intelligence Service officials told a closed-door parliamentary committee meeting that People's Armed Forces Minister Hyon Yong Chol was killed by anti-aircraft gunfire with hundreds watching at a shooting range at Pyongyang's Kang Kon Military Academy in late April, according to lawmaker Shin Kyoung-min. Shin attended the briefing.
The office of another lawmaker, Lee Cheol Woo, released similar information about the NIS briefing.

Story 2
North Korean leader ordered aunt to be poisoned (http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/11/asia/north-korea-kim-aunt-poisoned/index.html), defector says
As one of the most senior North Korean officials to ever defect, he was preparing to tell the ugly truth about the regime he served faithfully for decades.
This is not his real name; he wants his identity hidden for fear of retribution against friends and family still in Pyongyang. It's not surprising when you hear what he has to say.
His first allegation is shocking. He claims North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ordered his own aunt, a blood relative, to be poisoned.
"On May 5th or 6th of last year," says Park. "Kim Jong Un ordered his aunt, Kim Kyong Hui, to be killed. Only his bodyguard unit, Unit 974, knew this -- now senior officials also know she was poisoned."
Park says Kim Jong Un wanted to silence his aunt, who complained angrily for months after her husband and presumed No.2 in the country, Jang Song Thaek, was killed in December 2013.

Story 3
North Korean defector: Kim will lose power within three years
While the late Kim Jong Il imprisoned his enemies, his son and current North Korean leader simply executes them, says one of the highest-level officials to escape the isolated country in years.
A man we are referring to simply as Park to protect his identity tells CNN, in his first-ever interview, that Kim Jong Un's cruelty is shocking those around him.
He says, while his father and grandfather Kim Il Sung were both considered cruel by many around the world, Kim Jong Un is taking ruling by fear to a new level.
"During his first three years in power, hundreds of the elite have been executed," Park says, adding this brutality is shaking an already weak support base.
......
However, Park says, within three months of taking over from his power, seven of Kim's closest aides were killed, along with their entire families, he claims, including the children.
South Korean intelligence believes Kim has already executed 15 senior officials so far this year.
"A lot of top officials in North Korea are not sure which direction Kim Jong Un is taking them in," says Park. "He doesn't know how to be a leader. He doesn't know politics, economy, culture or diplomacy."

You realize they're forced to act like this right? If they don't show enough emotion in front of the cameras they are punished, which could include sending their whole family to slave labor camps.
It's an entirely fvcked up situation where the world has been standing idly by for too long now.

Why the phuck should US be afraid of Israel having nukes? Nukes are the only thing that keep every Arab country surrounding Israel from starting another massive war against them.

I would guess at least half the population actually believes that stuff though, all are brainwashed from birth how can they not be?
Even the defectors describe that it took years for them to adjust to not believing some of the propaganda that was driven into their heads. I remember one girl that defected like 10 years ago said she had only recently had her first "bad" thought about the leader. She was afraid to even think about him because she was taught, and believed, that he could read her mind.
It's hard to challenge the ideas put into your mind reinforced by a lifetime of indoctrination from day 1 when you are completely cut off to the outside world.
So while some in that country may just feign crying, that is certainly possible, I think a great deal of others actually believe and feel those emotions. They are taught their leader is quite literally a god walking among them and solely responsible for all the good in their lives, and that evil americans and imperialist aggressors are solely responsible for the bad.

That's the problem, if they want out, they got to do it themselves, too many foreign countries have tried "helping out" the supposedly oppressed people of other countries and they mostly failed. Change should be gradual and from within, a spontaneous and true drive to change, not forced ideas from without.

This is all true but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be helped just because they cry when one of their leaders dies due to indoctrination.
Here's the video of that girl you were talking about, btw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufhKWfPSQOw (interesting watch - I recommend turning on subtitles). The situation over there is way worse than what we imagine.

I don't think in their current state they even "want out".
The ones that wanted out usually did so for immediate fear of death. It's not like they know the grass is greener on the other side, in fact they are taught the opposite. They are taught horrific things will happen to them if they escape and actually they KNOW horrific things will happen to their family if they attempt escape, and if they get caught they'll be tortured and put to death or a labor camp.
The only ones that escape usually do so because their life is in immediate momentary danger and are acting upon the instinctive feeling of better to take risks necessary to survive the moment and worry about long term repercussions later.
The general populace don't know they're being oppressed as they have no connection with the outside world and thus nothing to compare their lives to. Most believe the outside world is a much worse far more unsafe place than their home North Korea. It would take a sudden widespread leak/public access of outside world information for an internal revolt to happen I would think.

Ironic that you think they are so far brainwashed but are gullible enough to believe the same people they are afraid of and revolt based on that.

There's been no independent confirmation of that, just the DPRK saying they did it. More than likely, if a test did happen, it was an intermediate-range missle; they were only just barely able to get a satellite into orbit in 2012 and none of the intel out of South Korea shows that they've made any marked advances in long-range capabilities since then.
Along with that, the DPRK's sub tech is light years behind US stuff...still based off of a lot of Eastern Bloc designs. They're more of a threat to their neighbors than they are to us.

The problem with NK is, nobody wants to spend all that time, energy and money slowly advancing their people over a number of years.
The US could invade the country and save its citizens with ease, they just don't want to. Japan, South Korea, China, whoever. None of them really care enough as they have their own problems to deal with.
That country is gonna be fcked for a long time, regardless of what Kimberly does.

the thing that interests me about NKorea is if power and ruthlessness trumps eeeverything else to control. I know power over the military is the bottom line in most situations, just like Russia with Putin. he can have all of the Oligarch's against him but so long as he controls the military he is control of everything. so i really wonder if Kim Jong Il can maintain control of NKorea thru fear and ruthlessness. I sort of think he can since ruthlessness instills fear to stand up against, and controll is based on military power. anyone against him has to be scared as fukk since every relative will be punished from their stance.
