Harlem is considered unsafe?

By the way, why do you care so much about dumb shit like this? Just wondering.

If seen news stories stating that England has anywhere from 2 to 5 times the violent crime of the USA, especially rape. Although murders in the USA still remain much higher.

safest feeling big city I ever been in. Compared to LA this is nothing. No one has guns here for one thing.

I'm considering a trip there this fall to visit my cousin.

Hasn't London sort of always had a reputation of danger and depravity? The dark sides of Paris and London have been part of their lore for forever.

Yep, been to the main part of London lots of times and it was fine.

Some of the less flashy areas can get pretty dodgy though, but it's like that in most cities - Brixton, Stonebridge and Hackney didn't strike me as more threatening than Easton/St. Paul's (areas in my city).

And that's a good thing? Criminals generally feel comfortable targeting people who they know don't have guns and avoid people who they know probably do.

There's a reason why Australia has a lot of home invasions and Texas doesn't.

It's easier to die from a gun then it is from a knife.

Huh? If I was a criminal, I'd rather stick up the guy with the gun. Worth more than the amount of cash most people carry. Now I have two guns.

Your opinion of how somebody else chooses to defend themselves is of no value.

If you don't want a gun, don't have a gun. Denying somebody the right to defend themselves how they choose is the height of immorality.

Wait what? Australia has a lot of home invasions? Since when? If there's no guns on the street there's less gun violence. It's a lot easier dealing with an assailant who has a knife than someone with a gun.

I'm just saying that the "hard" areas in the UK seem much less dangerous than the "hard" areas of the US, mainly due to the fact that the people don't have guns in the UK, and you know they only have knives instead. It's easier for them to kill me with a gun then it would be for them to kill me with a knife. I feel like if someone tries to kill me with a knife, I have a better chance of survival than if a dude tried to kill me with a loaded gun.

Sure, but people can kill you with a car easier than they could kill you with moped.

How many hit and run murders do you think there are every year? You can always argue that restricting certain freedoms will result in more safety. But given the choice, people overwhelmingly prefer the freedom to make their own choices and be responsible for their own safety.

Actually Australia doesn't really have that much more crime than the USA, and a much lower murder rate. The UK has a lower murder rate too but overall crime is 4 times higher per capita according to NationMaster.
