Amazing. One of the greatest statues on all time, and built nearly 3000 years ago! Crazy how they managed that. I guess it isn't one of the 7 wonders of the world for nothing.

It is a misconception that the statue straddled the harbor, and it wasn't as big as often depicted. It was 98ft tall and believed to look more like this:

it only existed for about 55 years, so doesn't even show up on later lists.

but yeah still very impressive.
