View Full Version : Do the Cavs even stand a chance in the eastern conference finals or the NBA finals

Bulls put up a good fight up until game 6. This could have been a completely different series if it wasn't for some questionable calls in games 4 and 5. Bulls could have easily won game 4 if the refs had done their job and given the Cavs a technical foul for calling a time out. And they screwed the Bulls over in game 5 by ejecting Taj.

But Atlanta is on a different level this season than the Bulls. Even Washington is looking really good. Does Cleveland have a chance against either team? Irving is still hurt, Love won't be back. Can Atlanta or Washington do what Chicago couldn't and take advantage? And if the Cavs do advance to the NBA finals some how do they stand a chance against the Warriors, Grizzlies, Rockets or Clippers?

Bulls sucked. Get over it.
Stop making excuses.

And they could win it all if Rockets somehow makes the finals.

Stop underrating the Cavaliers. Cavs in 5 games in the Conference finals.

Bulls fans making referee excuses after losing by 20 with Kyrie injured, and LeBron in foul trouble. Pathetic

Hawks are a joke, but so are the injured Cavs.

It could go either way.

You never know. Hawks could get hot and if Cavs can't stop Horford/Trillsap inside it could be a long series and if Lebron continues to play like he did against the Celtics and the Bulls, I don't see why Atlanta wouldn't have a chance to beat them with Love out and Irving injured + they have HCA.

They have a chance. As long as you have Lebron you have a chance. Now that they got past the bulls (which was the only team in the east that scared me) i think they will get to the finals. If Kyrie can get healthy the cavs have a good chance of winning the finals but that is a major if. Either way the young guys got valueable playoff experiance and hopefully they can stay healthy next year and win it all.

they can get to the finals. but if they do they might get smashed there especially with kyrie injured.

I think Irving is just fine. He didn't return in the game because the Cleveland Spurs annihilated the Chicago Bulls.

Just accept defeat and move on. Smh

They absolutely do. No more Jimmy Butler and Kawhi was ousted in the first round.

If Kyrie is healthy, they will win the title. Have you seen their defense recently?

Hysterical. The Bulls are a joke. That offense is unwatchable. Noah is like Scar from the Lion King. An old toothless Lion. His team mates need AFLAC from those bricks he was throwing at the rim. up 2-1 at home and a chance to essentially close out the series... instead the roll over for 3 straight. bums...

They can be beat by the Hawks...But c'mon...The NBA will not let Hawks make the Finals...They dont want the low ratings...I see bron winning is 6 or 7...

Far more realistically, the Bulls won G1 with Smith suspended and G3 on a 3 pt bank shot. Even with all the injuries the Cavs were just >>>>>>>>>

None of the teams left have the experience of Lebron so sure Cavs have as good a shot as anybody especially if Lebron shoots better and role players continue to step up..

^^^This. I think people are discounting experience way too much here. Lebron is the the greatest current talent in the league. You can certainly and fairly critique aspects of his performance during the first two rounds, such as field goal percentage and turnovers. However, you cannot say that Lebron did not step up as a leader and demonstrate both his leadership and crunch time heroics. He's the barometer of the NBA right now, and I expect him to stay that way for the next few years.

Whereas, teams like GS, LA, and even Atlanta may have more talent from top to bottom than Cleveland, esp. in their injured state, they don't have the greatest player in the game and they don't anywhere close to his level of experience. Of course, almost all of the rest of Cleveland's roster doesn't
have championship experience either, but I have to say that Irving looks like he's built for pressure situations.

None of this is a guarantee that Cleveland will win, in fact I'd still back GS. But anyone thinking Cleveland has "no chance" in the next rounds is fooling themselves.

I was as disappointed as any Bulls fan with the way they went out. They have some serious psychological issues and insecurity about Lebron led teams beating them year after year. Moreover, once they face a decent defense, like Cleveland, their offense, predictably, faded into oblivion.

LBJ is certainly not the GOAT, but he is an all time great, and he's the best overall player in the game today. He's playing in an extremely weak conference with a solid team. All of his opponents are inexperienced at this level. There's no reason not to believe the Cavs don't have a legitimate shot at winning this year.

Take the loss and move on bro.

The Cavs had no K Love, half of Kyrie Irving, and Lebron with his worst jump shot since he was a rookie. And you still lost. GTFO.

This would have indeed been a good series if...Chicago didn't choke.

Looking at the Bulls roster, on paper, every game should have been a blowout by the Bulls considering they lacked Love and had a hobbled Kyrie.

Pathetic showing by the Bulls. The end result is the same as their regular season performance; inconsistent.

I think Cleveland matches up better against the Hawks. If Cleveland goes small ball Lebron vs. Milsap would be interesting to watch.

If Cleveland reaches the Finals, I think the Cavs match up better with Houston or Golden State.

Both Memphis and LAC have two dominant rim protectors and with the Cavs being injured for the most part, they are better off playing against teams that want to play small from time to time.

Unlike the Bulls, Atlanta will exploit your weaknesses. and Kyrie might have to sit out games. They will likely put Shump on Teague and that might do the job. Whoever wins two games first will win the series. Everybody on ATL can shoot and create.

Biggest problem for Cleveland is that they played a stale offense for two weeks And will now face an intricate offense that can adapt and moves much faster. Unlike Thibes, this coach will change offensive and defensive looks. Cleveland hasn't really seen a team go on massive runs in the playoffs.

Biggest problem for Atlanta is Cleveland imposing the slow down game and Lebron dominating. Pick the games where JR isn't hot and go hard at Lebron.

Didn't Carroll do a good job on Lebron in the regular season? And Milsap can hold his own against him when the Cavs go small.
