the mid 2000 bulls had formed a core group that looked like they were going to grow together and become a great well rounded team similar to the Pistons
this began in around 2005 when Kirk emerged as a top young guard in the league while also being one of the best defensive guards in the league..
Deng & Gordon were young but looked promising
after years of waiting for Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler to pan out, they finally did.. the Bulls won 47 games with Skiles as coach and lost a tough series to the Wizards
the team grew together some more in 06 but fell to a 41-41 record..
after getting rid of Chandler and some other trash the Bulls looked poised to breakout in 07. Kirk was easily one of the top 4 defensive guards in the league, was putting up 16/6, Gordon ,Deng & Nocioni were all playing great, had just added Wallace which never really panned out but was supposed to be a HUGE SIGNING at the time..
Bulls eventually fizzled out in the ECSF and then in 08 they fell apart, and we know the rest after that..
I felt like the Bulls were poised to keep growing and getting better during that 04-07 stretch, same with these 11-15 Bulls, but both groups disappointed..
Bulls fans, who ya got?

11-15 is a bigger disappointment. They had the talent to go far.
Mid 00's didn't. Can't see Bulls fans picking the 00's team.

you never know.. for 7 years the Bulls were a joke and then around 04/05 they began to turn things around.. people were very excited in Chicago to be watching PO basketball again

This latest version easily.
Capable a more but always underwhelmed. No effort in an elimination game against a rival cavs is embarassing

As far as talent, obviously the later version Bulls had more. But they also had more injuries. To me, it still comes down to the Bulls being able to land a stud thats either entering or in his prime. Not in the twilight of his career like Gasol (who had an outstanding season) or Ben Wallace or Jalen Rose.
I still feel the Bulls lost because Noah got outplayed by Thompson. Played terrible defense, and had attrocious offensive games. The Bulls need three guys thats gonna have an impact every single night. Right now, they only have Butler. Rose, Noah, Dunleavy, Brooks, Mirotic are just too inconsistent.
Id be looking to trade Noah. Preferably for Cousins.

11-15 easily. They got hyped to the moon, Derrick Rose makes a mockery of the MVP award, and they caved in embarrassing fashion AT HOME to the Cavs MASH unit.

11 - 15 for sure. The 00s team was only in the playoffs because the East wasn't good, that team was never a contender or had the best record in the league.

Latest Bulls and it isn't even close.
The talent this team has this season was the greatest it's been in a decade and a half. Then it comes down to coaching, injuries, and on-court fit.
I'm not sold on Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler as the team's leader scorers, one of them is gonna have to take a step back and spread the wealth to get easier shots for their big men.
I'm not sold on Gasol and Noah. I think Gasol is too stone footed to guard PFs, but having Noah away from the basket decreases his defensive impact outside of switching on Pick and Rolls.
The Bulls need a backup PG. Aaron Brooks just didn't cut it and Kirk Hinrich is done.
The Bulls need to solidify their roster with shooters, either that or wait for McBuckets to hopefully bloom into what scouts believed he could be.
Their next head coach needs to be able to check the egos of these players and at the same time help them gel as a unit. If it takes benching Gasol for a stretch PF that gives the team better spacing and more touches to Noah then make that adjustment.

Actually those 11-15 Bulls teams weren't all that disappointing, they either had major injuries to key players or they ran into the greatest player of this generation in his prime(LBJ). The only disappointing year was this one IMO
