Compare Kobe's 2005 supporting cast to Lebron's 2007:

1 Kobe Bryant
2 Caron Butler
3 Lamar Odom
4 Chucky Atkins
5 Chris Mihm
6 Jumaine Jones
7 Devean George
8 Brian Cook
9 Tierre Brown

Kobe has D-league players starting at #4, whereas Lebron's #10 guy (Gibson) is still going strong:

1 LeBron James
2 Larry Hughes
3 Drew Gooden
4 Zydrunas Ilgauskas
5 Anderson Varejao
6 Eric Snow
7 Sasha Pavlovic
8 Donyell Marshall
9 Damon Jones
10 Daniel Gibson

Lebron has NEVER had a weak supporting cast.. That's just one of the misconceptions spewed by the media as a storyline.. But Lebron's own stats have never merited the supporting of a truly "weak" supporting cast.

Lebron makes bad players better and great players worse.

Kobe makes bad players worse and great players better.

The former gets you lots of regular season MVP's and the latter gets you lots of rings.

Damn bad week for Bron stans despite making it to the ECF, first the 7/23 game, loss of efficiency argument and now the "weak supporting cast" argument been put to rest

3Ball the MVP :pimp:

EDIT: now I don't even know if bolded is a positive thing for stans, onward to 2/6

Bran stans are nothing but hypocrites they say LeBron has a weak supporting cast and takes them to the finals (in the East) then call Kobe a choker because he can't take an even worse supporting cast out of the first round in the West. :oldlol:

None of Kobe's rings are on stacked teams. Shaq and Kobe teams weren't that good outside of those 2 IMO.

In fact, I don't think you'll find any other title team in recent history where only 2 guys made the Allstar Game those years (Kobe and Pau in 09 and 10)

It'd take a lot of moderation of the main NBA forum, but about 90% of the troll threads could be filtered out if we just had a "Kobe and LeBron" sub-forum.

 Jesus Christ man, that's like a bad D-League team right there making up half of the starting lineup/most of the bench.

Exactly. And Bron would never have even made the finals in 07 if not for Gibson scoring 21 in game 4 and 31 in the closeout game 6 (while Bron shot 3-11 and 'carried' his team into the finals :oldlol:).

His Cavs teams have always been criminally underrated; fact is, they were pretty decent supporting casts, and suited to how Lebron James likes to play basketball (shooting big-man, lots of good defenders, & 3 point shooters)

HOoopCityJones
05-16-2015, 02:26 PM
The thing people don't realize about those 05-06 Teams Kobe led was that outside of Odom, Caron and Kobe himself, none of those guys could string two or more skills together at once and weren't even that good at what they specialized at.

Lol have you watched that game recently? The last 6-7 minutes of it was entirely Kobe chucking to see how much he could ring up. Don't get me wrong, it was one of the most impressive things I've seen but don't make it seem like that game came down the wire.

Anyway, Lebron/Kobe dichotomy aside I think it's pretty clear that Lebrons skill-set and style is more conducive to winning games with role players. Not that it really means much...but yea..

So few players make it in the NBA that it is really not possible to have a "weak" supporting cast. Your premise is flawed from the start.
