Winning in the finals > making the finals > not making the finals. No idea why some posters believe that it's better to not make the finals than lose in them...

If you can into the season as a contender and you don't win it all you deserve to get shit on.
If you're a team that was projected to miss the playoffs (like say a random team, the Rockets) then if you were to make it this far you deserve nothing but praise and congrats.
