Not too long ago, Laker fans trashed this guy as a loser/quitter. However, he is the same guy that led the Orlando Magic to the NBA Finals in 2009. He is the same guy that was a defensive juggernaut. He is the same guy that won Defensive Player of the Year three consecutive years. He is an eight time NBA All-Star.

A lot of people would say this Rockets's team will only go as far as James Harden takes it. However, in my opinion, these Rockets are powered by Dwight. Harden was on the bench when the Rockets made their epic 4th quarter come back, in game 6, versus the Clippers. Harden might have been the runner up for the MVP trophy, but Howard is the true MVP of this team.

Look Ma, a Howard led team might just shock the world and win it all. :D

Might make and actually making are a hugely different thing.

Dwert lead? I think not

Also laker fans wanted him to be a defensive anchor, rebound, play pick n roll, and just dunk/put backs.. But no he wanted to be the main option on offense.
That's not his game.

Shocking that's what he's doing now :facepalm

Which of these last 2 series was Dwert the leader? Also, Clippers choked. Rockets don't deserve to be in the WCF, they just lucked out on getting there. Clippers gonna clipper. Your teams next on the chopping block. You're just half way through the playoffs, still plenty of time to get bounced.

Lakers fans mainly said he was a team cancer. Hasnt proven anyone wrong. This team is just too good to suck just like Shaq and Kobe tandem worked beaides the hate they had for each othwr.

Yea but with a older Kobe that was not possible... He and this old Kobe would have never made it this far.. They would be lucky to make the playoffs... He chose wisely...

He did. Rockets have a brighter future than the Lakers at the time. I agree. Even with Dwert here the team wouldn't have a chance. Kobe and Gasol are about to retire in a couple of years too.

Dwight lead Team? Ni99a was out 80% of the season Harden was balling. He had two great games, relax.

Not a terrible premise OP.

However, this Dwight is not the same person as the Dwight that was on the Lakers.

Dwight's main abilities on a basketball court are related to his freakish otherworldly athletic abilities.

For the Lakers, he just was not recovered yet. He could have a random big jump, but didn't have any of his quickness, multiple jumps, timing, etc. As such, he was just a turnover machine that didn't know how to mesh well with others.

He is back to himself now physically and it shows in how he plays. He is a beast. If the Lakers had this Dwight it would of been a different story. Can't blame the Lakers for imagining they'd get a beast and all they got was a whimpering, slow, mental midget.

Had no problem with Dwight's game the 2nd half of the season when he played in LA....I was actually upset they brought him back too early with his back injury and that him playing through the injury cost us some games early in the season..

That being said, he made it known he didn't want D'Antoni and left because they chose him over Phil.

Dwight will lead his team to a sweep at the hands of Golden State. Great stuff :applause:

So Dwight + Harden = WCF as a 2nd seed, and Dwight + Kobe + Pau (+ Nash sort of) = Barely making playoffs. Does that mean Harden > Kobe?

james harden averaged 27.4ppg this year

thats a difference of 11.6ppg

kobe bryant averaged 22.5ppg in 1999-00

shaquille oneal averaged 29.7ppg in 1999-00

thats a difference of 7.2ppg

"but howard is the better defender!"

kobe 1999-00 first team all defense
shaq 1999-00 2nd team all defense

if kobe was carried in 2000.... whats dwight in 2015?

nobody gives 2 f*cks if howard wins at this stage in his career. hes barely putting up 1998 6th man kobe scoring averages

harden carried them against the mavs, and in the only win he didn't contribut was in game 6 when he was sick. he led them in game 2 and 5 he had a triple double.

He won game 7 from the front with 31-7-8.The op is on drugs or has a anti harden agenda. harden carried them in reg season and in the playoffs.

They are not a Dwight Howard led team by any stretch of the imagination.

So Dwight + Harden = WCF as a 2nd seed, and Dwight + Kobe + Pau (+ Nash sort of) = Barely making playoffs. Does that mean Harden > Kobe?

Using the basic principles of your basketball arithmetic:

Kobe + Pau > VC + Dwight > Harden + Dwight > Kobe + Pau + Dwight

One can assume that Dwight Howard is actually a negative on teams due to the negative effect of his addition to Kobe + Pau.

A team isn't just 2 or 3 players. The Rockets supporting cast is MUCH better than the cast the 2012-13 Lakers had. That's why LA didn't have success that season. Injuries and chemistry issues played a big part.

And Mike Antoni playing Pau in the high post, favoring Dwight's dumb ass in the low post.

That season was such a frustrating season to watch.

These Rockets are led by Harden who, ya know, finished 2nd in MVP voting. Dwight didn't even play half the year.
