View Full Version : Phil Jackson should trade Carmelo Anthony

It is a logical move because you cannot win with Carmelo Anthony as your top dog. A solid basketball mind like Phil Jackson should know this. I hope he trades Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers for the Lakers' top pick and he will get to have 2 top 4 picks in the draft that he can use in drafting Towns / Russell, Towns / Mudiay, Okafor / Russell or Okafor / Mudiay. Do it PJ!

He stupidly gave Carmelo the house, signing him to a ridiculous contract with a no trade clause.

This. Land a couple FAs, then trade Melo for players that make sense for winning.

Realistically.

They threw a Lot of money at an isolation chucked.
Pisses me off that bulls couldn't sign him because of Knicks stupidity

What kind of FA are salivating at the thought of playing with Melo?

Melo should step down as a player and become part of the coaching staff. He could be the swag coach or something and teach the players on how to dress nice and act aloof.

He'd easily trade Melo for a top 4 pick from Lakers. Lakers are not offering top 4 pick though which is a problem.

You don't trade your best player and arguable the best scoring combo F that's not named Kevin Durant for a measly draft pick.
Look at all the picks and assets the Knicks GAVE UP TO GET Carmelo. They need a return like that to get fair value.

Give me a break. So you made a mistake in your life. But since you like to live in the past, you refuse to turn things around and stick with misery until the end? The Carmelo trade was a mistake and it needs to be corrected while it can be. The Knicks should build around a real star who is capable of making the team better, not an overrated pseudo superstar whom only casual fans appreciate.

This is not NBA2k15, what motivation do the Lakers have of trading for CA? won't happen.

Better FAs than those salivating at the thought of playing with Lou Amundson

The last time Melo played with a great PG he went all the way to the WCF
If Melo plays with Mudiay or D Angelo? GG Lebron

Yeah, the Raps should sell the farm to get an overpaid all-star on the downside of his career for the next 4 years.

Melo won't leave NY, pretty sure he has a no-trade clause.

Unless the Trade Machine and my mental math are wrong, Knicks have about 22-23m in salary cap this summer.
Maybe the top tier guys won't go there, but what about...
Trade Langston Galloway (I love him) to the Bulls for Gasol and Hinrich (we insist he is included, and he expires). This works under cap rules because Knicks have so much space.
Sign Wes Mathews to a large contract; something like 4/42m. This contract, plus additional salary from Bulls deal puts the Knicks under cap by about 3m.
With the remaining 3m, can resign Sheved (if they like him. I don't), or find some other cheap-but-dependable PG similar to Blake or something.
If Knicks are running the triangle, having Pau helps, and the PG is not super necessary. Just need someone that can defend and/or shoot.
Is...
3m PG//Hinrich
Mathews//THJ
Melo//Early
Pau//minimum contract
Min//min
good enough to contend? Probably not. But Melo and Mathews is pretty solid. Pau is nice. Just hope you hit paydirt with a cheap signing.
