This would have changed the entire course of NBA history.. KG was extremely close to coming to the Lakers and joining Kobe in 07..
Lakers probrably win the championship in 07, 08, and then with the emergence of young bro Gasol in 09, 10, 11, 12 they stay competitive with the Big 3 for those years.. man I would have preferred this over what actually happened..
we more than likely end up with 3-4 rings out of this..
[QUOTE]The Lakers offered a package built around multi-skilled forward Lamar Odom and 19-year-old center Andrew Bynum, a promising second-year player who would eventually become an All-Star. Odom had a history of flaky behavior, however, and Bynum was unproven.

Imagine, Kobe, Kevin Garnett and Pau on the same team. Good thing the trade didn't go down.

Makes sense McHale had a thing for Jefferson. Post game love cause thats what he used to do.
Also makes sense he sent KG to the Celtics, probably figured if he was gonna hook up anyone with the Big Ticket it might as well be his boys in Boston.

Celtics past make the difference for McHale I see. And Lakers could've had Pau too since he was traded for Kwame, Crittenton, picks and rights of Marc.
Fisher - Kobe - Ariza/Artest - KG - Pau smells like dynasty.
But kg would have also cost the pick that became marc gasol I believe.
Don't think so. Marc was the 48th pick in 07. Lakers would probably send future first rounders.

They said they didn't trust Odom and Bynum. Their thoughts have been proven 100% correct.
Odom is mental and Bynum is a lazy quitter.
They'd have gone to Minny and sucked.

Well. We could not have ended up worse than we did with bostons haul. Still would've been laughed out of the league if we took Odom and Bynum

Getting Odom and Bynum probably means no Rubio and Love as they would build the team with shooters and perimeter scorers.
They'd probably keep O.J. Mayo the first season. In the 2009 Draft I don't think they would select Rubio because he can't shoot and Curry because it was a question about his position and defense. I could see them loving Johnny Flynn to the point they'd draft him. They wouldn't make the Draft Day trade for Washington's pick since they wouldn't be pressured into taking Ricky Rubio.
Johnny Flynn
O.J. Mayo
Mike Miller
Lamar Odom
Andrew Bynum
That would be the starting lineup for the 2009-2010 season.

That SBNation write up on KG's impact on the NBA was a stellar read.
I remember that summer of 07, praying to the gods old and new that KG came our way. That draft day deal for Ray and Big Baby was the sign to me: we were going to get him. Just glad he didn't end up in LA

Yea, because Al Jefferson was so much better for the Twolves. How did they do in the playoffs with big Al?

Lakers would have been a much better defensive team with KG. 3 titles in a row from 07-09.

If he did, he would've had more than one ring. Without the kg celtics who was going to stop this team.

Kobe possibly. The reason kobe and pau meshed so well was because pau was willing to be the 2nd fiddle and listen to kobe. I think KG has a really strong personality that could potentially clash with the mambas

I think KG has a really strong personality that could potentially clash with the mambasi was fairly certain something along these lines would get brought up and I can't deny the possibility, but kg was willing to play second fiddle to paul pierce so he shouldn't have a problem doing it for kobe. They would have respected each other's work ethic and competitiveness.
As long as Kobe didn't try to punk kg like he did Howard, it would have all been good, and I'm sure Kobe respects kg much more than Dwight.

KG and Kobe both have the same kind of mentality when it comes to playing hard and being focused all the time, KG knows Kobe is a winner and the man on offense. KG would have been the defensive leader while Kobe did his thing running the tri.
Plus, KG had no problem with Pierce winning the FMVP in 08 :confusedshrug:, all he wanted to do was win a chip. Him and Kobe would have been better than Kobe and Pau.

Without that knee injury in 09, Celtics were winning it all and would have been in much better shape for the 2010 Finals run even with Perk hurt. KG was visibly dragging that leg for that entire season, more so in the playoffs.
We can sit here and do hypotheticals all day, but I won't disagree that KG going to the Lakers...one of those years would have seen a 70-win team at minimum, along with two or three more titles for LA.

Wow. There's no telling what they would have won. At least 3 rings I'm sure. Likely more.
With an anchor like Marc Gasol in the middle, they'd be contending even today, probably with a younger, upgraded backcourt. Hey, maybe Phil Jackson stays if they're passing, playing D, and winning. I could see them scoring Russell Westbrook, too, for the future.
In my opinion, the Lakers should always be good. It doesn't seem fitting that they're not in the playoffs. If I were NBA commish, I would definitely rig things in their favor. By themselves, they make every season a drama.

 Maybe next year.
Though would Marc Gasol have become a stud if he was the third option on a team with dominant alpha legends like Kobe and KG? We know Gasol is a beast now, but it's hard to say given different circumstances whether he would have grown like he did or not. That's why I don't bother much with hypotheticals.
Us keeping Marc and getting KG would have been awesome, but getting Pau and winning back-to-back was pretty awesome as well.
