They've been a joke for years, but this is just icing on the cake. When I looked over the nominations, I thought to myself "Maybe I just missed him." But I looked again, and again, and again. Nope, he's not here. The critically acclaimed top album of the year left of the BET Awards R&B nominations for such acts as (August Alsina, Chris Brown, John Legend, The Weeknd, Trey Songz and Usher.)

BET still has an awards show? How about the Source Awards? Are they still around?

BET is ran by blacks and I think they know better than most what real R/B is.

Well, the OP is criticizing an award show ran by blacks and I think they know more about R/B than anyone else. This is their specialty in music and this is their award show. The nominees are fine and they are great artists too.

Blacks don't own BET though so it's not ran by blacks
BET is a joke now.

Founder was black and most positions of chief are black. They run the network. Viacom don't know shit about running a network called 'black entertainment'.
Don't know if OP is blaming blacks or you defending blacks about not running BET but like I said before, they know there R/B.

Man have you seen BET lately? It's horrible. I'm not defending it at all. I stopped watching BET like 12 years ago.
I probably watch a bit of the awards because my girl watch it but I could care less who's nominated.
I've never liked any award show though be it the grammys or the mtv awards.

You realize August Alsina may win this award over D'Angelo? You know how backwards that is?

Never heard of him and I haven't listened to a D'angelo in a minute. Just listened to both albmus and Alsina put a better album.
Too much social awareness tracks to be considered a good R/B album.

Lol, like Marvin Gaye's What's Goin On LP? Too much politics in it. D'Angelo will be nominated for the Grammy's album of the year, but his own people snub him. August Alsina won't sniff a Grammy nomination.

This is coming from a guy that use to bump dangelo for the ladies when people thought his shit was gay. Brown sugar is one of my faves too.

D'Angelo could survive in the 60s and 70s music climate. Alsina would be working at Jack in the Box.

To be honest, Weekend should win it and I've said it before and made a thread about it.

Overall? No.
Right now? Yes.
Weekend is refreshing compared to the crap that has been out.

I just noticed Weekend doesn't even have a current album out. Dude's last album was released 20 months ago.
This is terrible what they're doing to D'Angelo. Of 30 national reviews, he averaged a 95 out of 100 rating for the album.

Then again, I would rather him be left out of the BET awards, and be nominated for a Grammy than the other way around :lol
The Grammy's dare wouldn't snub him. D'Angelo and Van Hunt best R & B albums out.
